This poem is a whispered anthem for every soul who has ever felt broken, a radiant tapestry woven from threads of struggle and victory. It whispers, "Let your scars bloom. Embrace your wounds, find solace in their stories, and watch them blossom into magnificent expressions of who you truly are. Share your story. Let your scars bloom. Every year, one in four American adults suffers from a diagnosable mental health disorder. In these true stories, writers and their loved ones struggle as their worlds are upended. What do you do when your father kills himself, or your mother is committed to a psych ward, or your daughter starts hearing voices telling her to harm herself—or when you yourself hear such voices? Addressing bipolar disorder, OCD, trichillomania, self-harm, PTSD, and other diagnoses, these stories vividly depict the difficulties and sorrows—and sometimes, too, the unexpected and surprising rewards—of living with mental illness.

Beneath The Scars written by Deborah Evison and has been published by Independently Published this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-08-25 with categories.

This biography is about the life of Simon Kendall who, from the age of six, became the victim of sexual abuse and subsequently began to injure himself. Simon cut himself in order to cope with his inner torment and although he maintains his self-injury is not about wanting to die, he did throw himself off a dual carriageway bridge in his early twenties. Simon is now a double amputee and is wheelchair bound. The book explains the torment behind his scars and the reasons he tattooed his face. Our hope is that reading Simon's story will help those who injure themselves feel less alienated and better understand themselves. We also hope that it will help those who are in relationships with them gain a better understanding of why they may injure themselves and what is helpful and unhelpful in their interactions with them. The last two chapters of the book explain self-injury and why some people resort to this extreme coping mechanism. They also cover the mental health disorders which may surround this mostly secretive and alienating issue, and a question and answer session with Simon.

Returning from a holiday in Mexico with his wife, Sara, he develops stomach pains and heads to the hospital with what seems to be a case of severe constipation. He is diagnosed with terminal colon cancer and given six months to live. In this true story, Darren’s diagnosis changes his life, but he doesn’t let it stop him from living. He becomes an empowered and involved patient, working closely with his doctors in carrying out his treatment plans, and continues an active lifestyle that includes daily hot yoga, scuba diving, hunting, socializing, travel, and getting the most out of every day. Always adventurous, cancer makes him even more ambitious. Darren shows that even with a terminal diagnosis, there are ways to thrive and live an incredible life. He makes a special point of recounting the support he’s received, personally thanking friends, family, and health care professionals—every person who made his and Sara’s journey better. His story will inspire and motivate patients faced with challenging treatment regimens, as well as help friends and family members of people undergoing difficult medical treatment better understand how to support their loved ones. Darren’s perseverance and optimism make You Can’t See My Scars about much more than cancer; this is a story about how to approach life and death, and a meditation on the power of positivity, gratitude, community, a deeply loving spousal partnership. "In Living with Scars: A Jew Who Knows Our Suffering, Dr. Douglas A Jakubowski examines the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus through a distinctly Jewish lens. Each chapter reveals something unique about the biblical God's relationship to mankind, including our pain, as He reconciles His creatures to Himself. Along the way Jakubowski relates his own family's tearful, painful, multigenerational suffering to the eternal hope and redemption that belong only to followers of Jesus, the suffering servant--crucified, risen and coming again"--Provided by publisher
