When Albert Camus wrote ‘The Plague’ in 1947, he could have been predicting Covid-19 in 2020. Some of his words would not be out of place today. The worry and fear that people live with every day is hardly diminishing. Unlike in 1947, the fear today is not only about health and life but also about the future, employment and quality of life in general. There is a fear of the present, concern for the future and a longing for the past. Breaches of lockdown are manifestations of that longing for the past – how it used to be. The ‘new normal’ is difficult to accept. How could one of the biggest economies in the world have fared so badly? How could the United Kingdom with a tradition of medical research and evidence in medicine have not foreseen events? Why did a country endowed with scientists and with plans for dealing with such an eventuality not act earlier than it did? We need to do better next time that a new virus appears, as surely it would. Covid-19 has shone a spotlight on society. We have seen ourselves as seldom before. We have seen ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’.

Life is not a bed of roses and COVID- 19 is testament to it. COVID-19 has paralysed life of people. Underlying the believe in welfare of the society the authors have tried to comprehend the adversities that this pandemic has brought in. So, it's an endeavour to understand the psychological repercussion on the lives of people. On March 11th, 2020 World Health Organization declared Coronavirus as a pandemic and on March 20th, 2020 the government of India took the step towards first lockdown which resulted in four phases. The present study is an attempt to assess the efficiency & the level of stress among the working professions & students in India before and after lockdown regarding to work from home for the first time in history i.e., virtually. The data is from of people scattered across the country residing in different states and cities. It was observed that among all the working, the ones with day-to-day income source were comparatively less efficient in their working from home experience & professionals with day-to-day income source showed higher stress levels due to work from home. Moreover, those persons who found it difficult to work from home were more likely to be able to predict early end of lockdown then others.

20th March 2020: the day the schools closed. Shortly after, the country went into lockdown and 'normal' life changed for all of us. The day the schools closed felt so strange; I decided to write a poem to record my thoughts. After all, I'm an English teacher- we're supposed to write aren't we?! More poems followed which I shared on social media, with friends and family. People liked them, cried or laughed after reading them and told me that reading my poetry was helping them get through the tough days. I gained a small army of followers and I soon found that writing a daily poem became a bit of an addiction! 'Lockdown Lines' contains personal poetry about my husband, my daughter, my parents and friends. It contains poetry about life during lockdown, from daily walks to Thursday nights clapping for the NHS. It contains lines which show my appreciation for nature and lines about needing a hair cut. What started out as a one-off, became 100 poems by 26th June 2020 (the day I decided to put my pen down and stop writing). Lockdown Lines is a record of history. It was my way of coping, a kind of therapy. It's a record for my two year old daughter to read. A memory full of rainbows.
