Todos nos alegramos por ello, pero a la vez cabe preguntarse: ¿es esto suficiente para salvar el abismo que se abre entre la llamada alta cultura y los usos culturales de la mayor parte de la población?, ¿estamos en el camino adecuado para lograr un verdadero acceso democrático al patrimonio, que no consista en la mera reproducción de los valores estéticos e ideológicos de la aristrocracia cultural que lo creó?. Los ensayos recogidos en este volumen tratan de responder a estas preguntas y lo hacen analizando sobre todo estas cuestiones: las dinámicas de delimitación de lo patrimonial, su manera de articular las prácticas culturales heredades con las actuales y la naturaleza de las propias prácticas de mediación cultural.
