Clover was born on a January Blue Moon night. Even though Momma Bear showed him the ways of a bear as he got older, he had a knack for getting his little bear paws into trouble. When Clover chased a fox deep into the forest, he became lost. Trying to get back home, the cub realized learning the ways of the bear was more important than running paw first in the unknown ill-prepared. Clover's adventures wrap the character-building characteristic of patience into an entertaining story. Today's boys and girls can follow the advice of parents/guardians to make their way in the world and live their best lives.

The author, Gregory Hugh Brown, is the grandson of the books central character, Clover McKinley Palmer. The artists brother, James Roger Brown, did over thirty years of ancestral research which provided the inspiration for the stories and legends within Fields of Clover. The author and his brother are both MFA graduates of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Sadly his brother, an internationally acclaimed artist, passed away in 1997 shortly after finishing his ancestral work, entitled Autobiography in the Shape of Alabama II. This ancestral work fully documented and paid homage to our grandfather and his mother, Mary Dizenia Palmer. It is my intention withFields of Clover to honor these ancestors as well as my brother who did so much to make this book a reality.

An illustrated highlight reel of more than 100 women in rap who have helped shape the genre and eschewed gender norms in the process The Motherlode highlights more than 100 women who have shaped the power, scope, and reach of rap music, including pioneers like Roxanne Shanté, game changers like Lauryn Hill and Missy Elliott, and current reigning queens like Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Lizzo—as well as everyone who came before, after, and in between. Some of these women were respected but not widely celebrated. Some are impossible not to know. Some of these women have stood on their own; others were forced into templates, compelled to stand beside men in big rap crews. Some have been trapped in a strange critical space between respected MC and object. They are characters, caricatures, lyricists, at times both feminine and explicit. This book profiles each of these women, their musical and career breakthroughs, and the ways in which they each helped change the culture of rap.

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Mark of the Dragonfly comes a thrilling fantasy adventure about two magical friends living as refugees in a world that doesn't trust magic. Perfect for fans of Serafina and the Black Cloak and the School for Good and Evil series! There was no warning the day magic died in Talhaven. It happened with a giant explosion and the arrival of a skyship full of children, all with magic running through their veins and no memory of home. Rook and Drift are two of those children, and ever since that day, they've been on the run, magical refugees in a world that doesn't trust magic. Because magic doesn't die right away--it decays, twists, and poisons all that it touches. And now it's beginning to poison people. Try as they might, Rook and Drift can't remember anything about their lives before Talhaven. But it's beginning to look like they're the only ones who can save their adopted world . . . if that world doesn't destroy them first. From the million-copy bestseller Amanda Prowse, the queen of heartbreak fiction. Amanda Prowse is the author of The Coordinates Of Loss and the no.1 bestsellers Perfect Daughter, My Husband's Wife and What Have I Done? When eighteen-year-old Dot meets Sol, she feels that love has arrived at last. Solomon Arbuthnott is a man who can bring colour and warmth to her drab life in sixties London – and what's more, he is a young, handsome soldier with excellent prospects. Someone who wants to give her everything she has dreamed of. Someone who can promise her blue skies, laughter, sun and always, always love. And for a while, life is truly like a song. They stroll hand-in-hand by the Serpentine, dance cheek-to-cheek in Soho's smoky bars, and begin to plan their idyllic future, growing old together in Sol's ancestral home on the island of St Lucia. But this is 1961. East End girls don't date West Indian boys, let alone fall in love with them and leave the country. They stay at home and live the life their parents planned for them.
