It's about to go down... Annie I sell toilet paper for a living. It doesn't seem glamorous but S#!T HAPPENS is going places. We're the fastest growing eco-toilet paper subscription service around. We're amazing—and I should know, I'm my own best customer. After years of hard work, I have everything I need to take my business to the next level—well, everything except the paper. When my competition swoops in and offers my supplier a better deal, I'm left up a certain creek without a paddle. I must have done something truly crappy in a previous life because the only person willing to help is my ex-boyfriend, Lincoln 'Linc' Garrett. The man is arrogant, infuriating, and far too attractive for his own good. Thankfully, I flushed any lingering feelings for him the moment he dumped me all those years ago. So… how did I end up kissing him? Linc Annie and I were hot and heavy in high school. We were the golden couple, ready to ride off into the sunset for our life together. Until my life went to poop and like the ass I am, I flushed everything good from it. Now she's back in town and stirring up all kinds of feelings I thought I'd purged. Feels like desire, happiness, and something that feels a whole lot like—NOPE! It's not happening. No way. No how. Or at least it wasn't. But when Annie's left with no choice but to accept my help, it seems as if my heart might have other ideas. Looks like s#!t really does happen...

In this captivating narrative, readers are transported into the intriguing world of a cocker spaniel who finds himself amidst the lives of the poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning and her husband. From the tranquil countryside to the bustling streets of Victorian London, the spaniel, Flush, becomes an inseparable companion to Elizabeth, witnessing her poetic musings and the unconventional courtship between Elizabeth and her husband. Published in 1933, this biographical novel by Virginia Woolf weaves together history and fiction. Seen through the eyes of a dog human behaviour becomes both clearer and more absurd, exploring conventions and the unnaturalness of city-living. VIRGINIA WOOLF [1882–1941] was an English author. With novels like Jacob’s Room [1922], Mrs Dalloway [1925], To the Lighthouse [1927], and Orlando [1928], she became a leading figure of modernism and is considered one of the most important English-language authors of the 20th century. As a thinker, with essays like A Room of One’s Own [1929], Woolf has influenced the women’s movement in many countries.

Adeline Virginia Woolf (1882–1941) was an English writer. She is widely hailed as being among the most influential modernist authors of the 20th century and a pioneer of stream of consciousness narration. Woolf was a central figure in the feminist criticism movement of the 1970s, her works having inspired countless women to take up the cause. She suffered numerous nervous breakdowns during her life primarily as a result of the deaths of family members, and it is now believed that she may have suffered from bipolar disorder. In 1941, Woolf drowned herself in the River Ouse at Lewes, aged 59. First published in 1933, “Flush - A Biography” is the story of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s eponymous cocker spaniel, whose various adventures bring him into contact with all manner of people and animals. Interpreted as everything from an allegory of class war to a tale of lesbian love, it deals with the subject of animality as related to feminism and gender. Highly recommended for those with an interest in feminist literature. Contents include: “Three Mile Cross”, “The Back Bedroom”, “The Hooded Man”, “Whitechapel”, “Italy”, “The End”, and “Authorities”. Read & Co. Classics is proudly republishing this classic novel now in a new edition complete with Woolf's essay 'The Art of Biography'.

This is not an historical novel in the ordinary sense. It is something new: the life of an actual royal family, whose story is so rich and varied that it falls naturally into the form of a modern novel. The heroine is Princess Henrietta of England, known to family as Minette. She is the Duchess of Orleans, and linked dramatically to the fate of her brother, Charles II, and that of her cousin, Louis XIV.

Civil War buffs and con men collide in this wickedly funny, Hiaasen-esque story of old-time relics and modern greed Dock Bass is a carpenter-turned-realtor in upstate New York. He has a social-climbing wife he doesn't love (or even like), a job he hates, and a rapidly crumbling sense of self-respect and self-worth. Like a lot of people, he yearns for a change. Like very few, he decides to leave his life behind, hit the road, and go looking for it. He finds it in Pennsylvania, of all places. Summoned to Gettysburg by a law firm, he learns that he's inherited an ancient house from a deceased relative whom he never knew existed. Renovating the place, Dock stumbles upon a treasure trove of Civil War memorabilia squirreled away in an old root cellar, including pictures and possibly even a recording of Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg. And in a world where John Kennedy's golf clubs are worth $750,000, what dollar figure does one place on items connected to the greatest American president at the venue of his most inspiring and memorable speech? Plenty, Dock soon finds out, as he's forced to defend his new find from the onslaught of collectors, history buffs, and media hounds descending on his doorstep. Fortunately, like Honest Abe himself, he's the right man for the fight-independent, funny, loyal, and stubborn as a Missouri mule. When the scallywags and opportunists-including an easy-on-the-eyes television reporter with one hell of an attitude-start crawling out of the woodwork, he'll need all of that. And maybe a little more.
