Why me, why this, why now? Life could not be more meaningless. If God is good, why does He allow evil? If He is All-powerful, why doesn't He prevent evil? Making Sense of Nonsense is a well-written and engaging book for those who want answers to questions about life or deepen their understanding of the things in life that appear not to make sense to them. Prophetess Adesola Elegbede raised many of life's questions and sought to answer them in a way that lay men and women will understand. She urges that when all hope is lost, when the world seems to be caving in, and all you want to do is lie in your bed and pray to fall asleep instead of falling apart, remember that the struggle you see today must develop you for the strength you need tomorrow. Hope empowers us to chase light even inside gross darkness. The darkest of nights cannot defeat the sunrise of hope. Disappointments are finite, but hope is infinite. It is her prayer that as you read this book, you might, in the end, see that there is indeed some sense in the nonsensical things of life.

In his Critique of Pure Reason Immanuel Kant noted that the understanding intuits nothing. Now, the significance of this insight comes to light. Tristan Burt explains why our intuition of nothing resolves a central philosophical problem: how can we know what is (absolutely) real? The answer to this question is as surprising, and amusing, as reality itself.

Wittgenstein's complex and demanding work challenges much that is taken for granted in philosophical thinking as well as in the theorizing of art, theology, science and culture. Each essay in this collection explores a key concept involved in Wittgenstein's thinking, relating it to his understanding of philosophy, and outlining the arguments and explaining the implications of each concept. Concepts covered include grammar, meaning and meaning-blindness language-games and private language, family resemblances, psychologism, rule-following, teaching and learning, avowals, Moore's Paradox, aspect seeing, the meter-stick, and criteria. Students new to Wittgenstein and readers interested in developing their understanding of specific aspects of his philosophical work will find this book very welcome.

In a world of increasingly strident identity politics, a theological approach, claiming no more than the outworking of subjectivist sentiment, offers no remedy. What if a key factor in this predicament is a misrepresentation of the operation of metaphor? This acknowledged building-block of language looks set to become a mere component of the wearer’s spectacles. The consequences for theology, philosophy, literature, and even the sciences are yet to be charted. This book takes readers on a journey to the Land of Oz and asks whether our culture, while discarding past errors, can reconnect with the spiritual bonds that underpin language, truth in its various forms, and identity. Companions on the road are Dorothy and her friends, Sallie McFague and the Wizard, Paul Ricœur and C. S. Lewis, and others.

Philosophers have spent millennia accumulating knowledge about knowledge. But negative epistemological phenomena, such as ignorance, falsity, and delusion, are persistently overlooked. Markus Gabriel argues that being wrong is part and parcel of subjectivity itself, adding a novel perspective on epistemic failures to the work of New Realism.

Touching on the fields of philosophy, critical theory, cultural studies, and queer theory, Pervert-Schizoid-Woman critiques the organization of Western economy, language, and desire. Author Michael Williams seeks to promote alternative frameworks for a posthumanist theory and practice of perverse selfhood and sociality. In this study, he identifies the capitalist economic system as structured by scarcity and supply/demand dynamics, discerning the paradoxical accumulation of debt as the essence of the assumed scarcity in the financial system. He also uncovers the profound isomorphism between the economics of scarcity and the castration and lack at the center of the psychoanalytic interpretation of gender, sexuality, and desire, concluding that the essential negativity in the scarcity of capitalism, the absence in the structure of language, and the castration in the network of desire are the sources of the dysfunctions in Western systems of finance, expression, and gender and sexuality.

Cosmic Reconciliation written by Glen C. Cutlip and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000-02-09 with Religion categories.
Cosmic Reconciliation contains two other volumes: The All-Oneness of God and The Living Christ Consciousness. All three volumes are concerned with the reconciliation of all things through ones Christ Self unto the the God Self of the many within the one. If you can bear to hear now what many could not bear to hear two thousand years ago, you will not want to miss the good news of the reconciliation of all things unto God. To see the Christ as is, is to come to see God as God is, not what either might appear to be. The reconciliation of all things unto God is the reconciliation of an infinity of many unto the One, for the one and the many are realized to be two parts of the same thing. Now is the time to take responsibility for what you are in God, for now we can see how that an infinity of many share that responsibility with us. And in that sense, the burden is considered to be light (not heavy) burden.

Critical Essays written by Gilbert Ryle and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-06-16 with Philosophy categories.
Gilbert Ryle was one of the most important and controversial philosophers of the Twentieth century. Long unavailable, Critical Essays: Collected Papers Volume 1 includes many of Ryle’s most important and thought-provoking papers. This volume contains 20 critical essays on the history of philosophy, with writing on Plato, Locke and Hume as well as important chapters on Russell and Wittgenstein. It also includes three essays on phenomenology, including Ryle’s famous review of Martin Heidegger’s Being and Time first published in 1928. Although Ryle believed phenomenology ‘will end in self-ruinous subjectivism or in a windy mysticism’ his review also acknowledged that Heidegger was a thinker of great originality and importance. While surveying the developments in the philosophy of language and philosophical logic, Ryle sets out his own conception of the philosophers’ role against that of his predecessors and contemporaries. Together with the second volume of Ryle’s collected papers Collected Papers Volume 2 and the new edition of The Concept of Mind, all published by Routledge, these outstanding essays represent the very best of Ryle’s work. Each volume contains a substantial introduction by Julia Tanney, and both are essential reading for any student of twentieth-century philosophies of mind and language. Gilbert Ryle (1900 -1976) was Waynflete Professor of Metaphysics and Fellow of Magdalen College Oxford, an editor of Mind, and a president of the Aristotelian Society. Julia Tanney is Senior Lecturer at the University of Kent, and has held visiting positions at the University of Picardie and Paris-Sorbonne.
