Dear Reader: Every woman has stories to tell about her mother. The mother she has, the mother she wants, the mother she misses, the mother she didn't know. We carry our mothers with us. Sometimes we carry her in our hearts, in our heads-or on our backs. Sometimes we are connected to our mothers with the thick, strong cords of intertwined love and true acceptance; other times the bonds are stretched thin and taut, scratching against our consciousness, rubbing raw the sore spots in our souls. But we are always linked to our mothers: both to the dreams of the mothers we wish for and the realities of the mothers we have. Even if our mother has been gone for years-for decades-the relationship is still very much alive. Mom is still with us: offering advice, encouragement, criticism, appreciation, rejection, solace. What we daughters do with this ongoing commentary-whether we unknowingly incorporate it into our reality, or consciously and carefully review it, deciding what to keep and what to put away-is fundamental to how fully we lead our own lives. In Dear Mom: Women's Letters of Love, Loss, and Longing, you meet women who have stripped away pretenses, societal constraints, and basic fears to uncover and express their most private truths about their relationship with their mothers. You get to peer over the shoulders of the women, share in their laughter, and experience their struggles. You see how other women cast light on this most complicated, rewarding, and sometimes frustrating relationship. You witness women at different stages of their lives reflecting on the legacies their mothers (knowingly or unconsciously, but always powerfully) left them. You hear how other women experience the glories and the scars, the hurt and the healing that make up this most primal of connections. You also get to meet the women behind the letters, since each Dear Mom letter is followed by a profile of the contributor. You learn about the surprises, satisfactions, and challenges they faced in writing down their most private truths. The 25 Dear Mom contributors include women from a variety of backgrounds, careers, religions, and lifestyles. They include (present and former) teachers, business owners, homemakers, real estate agents, artists, secretaries, social workers, journalists, and government officials. Some are accomplished professionals, well-known in their fields and public figures in their communities. They are married, single, divorced, widowed. Many, though not all, are mothers themselves. Many contributors are baby boomers, in their 40s and 50s. Others are in their 60s, 70s, and 80s. (The oldest contributor is over 90; her conversation with her mother continues!)

Mom S Letters written by Mildred M. Smith and has been published by Elm Hill this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-11-20 with Religion categories.

Mildred Smith was the author of this book which can be used as a devotional. In 1976, she received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. It wasn't too many months after she received the Holy Spirit that she began to receive letters from the Holy Spirit. She would sit down with a paper and pencil and thoughts would form in her mind. She would write them down, word by word as they came to her. These were thoughts that she did not form by herself. They were on themes about which she had little or no information. They were scripturally based, although she did not know it at the time. Some of the ideas seemed strange to her. They certainly were not her ideas. One of the most significant things about these letters was the loving way in which they were written. If the letter dealt with sin, it was presented in a manner that gave anyone reading the letter an insight regarding why sin offends God. The letter leads the reader to seek change from that sin, drawing that person closer to Jesus. The love of Jesus is evident in these letters. As people read them they are aware of the depth of love that Jesus has for all mankind! Jesus does not condemn anyone! He calls and draws them into a daily walk with Him. Whether a person reads only one letter a day or reads the book in its entirety all at once, his or her life will be changed. It is a labor of love sent to the people of Earth daily, except Sundays or during the times when earthly matters took precedence in Mildred’s life. Mildred was never in a trance. She could answer anyone who spoke to her and then she could then continue with the letter. She could write at any time that she chose. The Holy Spirit was there whenever she asked Him to talk to her. These letters are just a small sample of the way that the Holy Spirit communicated with her. They are on many diverse subjects. All are related to God and the way that man relates to God. They bring wisdom and understanding about God to a world that has shut God out of daily life. Sharon Smith, Ph.D., who was her oldest child and only daughter, was assigned as a Script Bearer early in Mildred's writing. Sharon’s assignment has now started. She and her husband, Joel M. Kestenbaum, Ph.D. are the compilers and editors. They, as did many others including Mildred’s husband, Burl C. Smith, their three sons, Steve, Jeff and Phil, and their spouses and children, watched as Mildred would sit and write without any preparation or hesitation. The words were always amazing, often prophetic and always from God. The letters are like a spiritual bath of goodness. They clean one's soul as one reads the thoughts that have been sent to purify one's soul. God would speak face to face with the people. He is love, see Him as such!

Mildred Smith wrote this devotional guide. In 1976, she received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. A few months later, the Holy Spirit began dictating letters for her to write. As thoughts would form in her mind, with paper and pen, she would write those words down, word by word as they came to her. She did not form these thoughts by herself; they were topics about which she had little or no information. They were scripturally based, although she did not know it at the time. Some of the ideas seemed strange to her. They certainly were not her ideas. In 1776, the United States became a nation. Two hundred years later, in 1976 after she received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, Mildred started writing. She wrote these specific letters in 1999. Today, reading them is like hearing the daily news as viewed by God. Prophetic? Yes. A miracle? Indeed! The love of Jesus is evident in these letters. As people read them, they are aware of the depth of love that Jesus has for all mankind! Jesus does not condemn anyone! He calls and draws them into a daily walk with Him. One of the most significant things about these letters was the loving way in which they were written.
