Andrew Lang FBA (31 March 1844 – 20 July 1912) was a Scottish poet, novelist, literary critic, and contributor to the field of anthropology. He was regarded as one of the leading lights in the study of unexplained phenomena such as magic. The Penultimate book on the upside-down and twisted interconnection of all religions, myths, and stories that forms an amazing map to creating Magic through our Spirit half hidden within Ancient, stories and Myths. Even though there are many stories of Mythical 'gods' and their possible powers, in my study of Magic, the actions of one particular false 'god' are fairly well documented. It's possible some or all of the tricks used by 'God' in the Bible prior to, during, and after the Exodus, may have been real Magic performed by a false god. Because most of the Old Testament laws were written by an Egyptian Pharaoh who went by many names, one of which was Seti, they should be interpreted in reverse or highly altered to reveal the truth, especially the alterations necessary for ceremonial Spirit Magic. I believe Seti I to be the, "Lord of Lies" and Seti even sounds a lot like Satan, which is closer to the truth because of the rules he initiated to limit the Hebrews from thinking independently and practicing Magic. Because the Bible is such a well known historical document and Seti was a false 'god,' his actions may have unknowingly revealed the potential that Magic could be real. According to the Bible he may have used Magic several times in front of Moses, his brother Aaron, and other Hebrews. Since Seti knew how to use Magic, he most probably would have done his best to restrict others from using it. God may have Created the Universe, but men claiming to be 'god' or 'gods' created sin and religion to control the ' mere mortals.' Without the external controls we put on ourselves by following society's guidelines to try and stay with one person our whole lives, would anyone really want to stay with one person for life, if it meant a shorter more boring life, over a long exciting one? Limitations put on us by society's rules, our own internal limiting system, and our parent's then our partners limiting system all cause us to die a little inside. To become what we can become with Magic, we must learn to love without ownership, or we'll just end up killing the true Magic of love before it starts. Magic's potential is great if we don't fall into the traps of history and fail as all the advanced civilizations of the past did. Since children are already sent to school at an early age, I believe they should be raised together, but not inside like now, but mostly outside, especially when young to help with the expansion of the mind. All children are children born of Spirit and should be treated as such no matter their parentage. It's hard to know what a child born of a Magical union might be like, but I'm very interested in finding out. Since we are all born of the Magic of life, we all might be Magical children just waiting to express our true identities. God's real and Jesus said he was both the Son of God and the Son of Man. If Jesus was both the Son of God and the Son of Man, then I believe that we are both Children of God and Children of Man. I believe this means we are both Spirit and matter. Quantum physics statistics and theories indicate it's possible we might only exist half of the time in our Universe. The other half of the time we could exist as Spirit and not know it. We might actually partially exist closer to the Spirit Realm or within it while dreaming. All of this together leads the path to Spirit Magic and our freedom from oppression.

With this third part of The Golden Bough we take up the question, Why had the King of the Wood at Nemi regularly to perish by the hand of his successor? In the first part of the work I gave some reasons for thinking that the priest of Diana, who bore the title of King of the Wood beside the still lake among the Alban Hills, personated the great god Jupiter or his duplicate Dianus, the deity of the oak, the thunder, and the sky. On this theory, accordingly, we are at once confronted with the wider and deeper question, Why put a man-god or human representative of deity to a violent death? Why extinguish the divine light in its earthly vessel instead of husbanding it to its natural close? My general answer to that question is contained in the present volume. If I am right, the motive for slaying a man-god is a fear lest with the enfeeblement of his body in sickness or old age his sacred spirit should suffer a corresponding decay, which might imperil the general course of nature and with it the existence of his worshippers, who believe the cosmic energies to be mysteriously knit up with those of their human divinity.

The Golden Bough written by James George Frazer and has been published by Cosimo, Inc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-12-01 with Religion categories.

The notion of a man-god, or of a human being endowed with divine or supernatural powers, belongs essentially to that earlier period of religious history in which gods and men are still viewed as beings of much the same order, and before they are divided by the impassable gulf which, to later thought, opens out between them. Strange, therefore, as may seem to us the idea of a god incarnate in human form, it has nothing very startling for early man, who sees in a man-god or a god-man only a higher degree of the same supernatural powers which he arrogates in perfect good faith to himself. -from "Chapter VII: Incarnate Human Gods" In 1890, James George Frazer began publishing The Golden Bough, his monumental study of myth, ritual, and religion, which would, by 1936, run to 13 volumes and establish him as a pioneer in the study of religion as an aspect of culture. This abridged edition, assembled in 1922, condenses this fundamental work to one readable volume that is still a source for modern anthropology, thanks to its expansive discussions ancient cultish practices and their connections to the rites of modern Christianity. In eloquent prose, Frazer discusses legends of the woods, sympathetic magic, magicians as kings, the worship of trees, the concept of the sacred marriage, the links between priestly and royal power, ritual royal sacrifices, the concept of "eating the god," the myths of Osiris, Adonis, Isis, and other ancient deities, and much more. Lovers of mythology will be enraptured by this book, which draws all of human belief under one unifying umbrella, celebrating myth and ritual as part of the basis of all human culture. Scottish anthropologist SIR JAMES GEORGE FRAZER (1854-1941) also wrote Man, God, and Immortality (1927) and Creation and Evolution in Primitive Cosmogonies (1935).
