Lebih celaka lagi, ia akan mendapatkan siksa neraka yang sangat pedih. Rasulullah saw. selalu mengingatkan supaya kita selalu ingat mati agar kita dapat meninggalkan dunia ini dalam keadaan husnulkhatimah. Walaupun sepanjang hidup kita diisi oleh berbagai amal kebaikan, hal itu akan hangus dan sia-sia jika menjelang kematian, kita justru tergoda syaitan dan meninggal dalam keadaan kafir. Born in 1936, Imtiaz Ahmad Sahibzada, joined the erstwhile Civil Service of Pakistan in 1959. After serving in a number of assignments in the Provincial bureaucracy of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which included that of the Chief Secretary, he was transferred to Islamabad in 1987. There he served as Secretary to the Federal Government in different ministries and superannuated in 1996 as the Cabinet Secretary. Thereafter, he went on to become a member of the Federal Public Service Commission, a member of the National Security Council, Chairman of the Federal Lands Commission, Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman) of Pakistan and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Tribal Affairs. He finally retired from public service in 2008. He is the author of the Pilgrim of Beauty and A Breath of Fresh Air. The former contains translations into English of selected poems of the famous Pukhtun poet, Ghani Khan, who was Ghaffar Khan’s son. The latter is a compilation of the speeches and interventions of Ghani Khan in the Central Legislative Assembly of India, 1946. Imtiaz Ahmad had a close friendship with Abdul Ghani Khan, who is the greatest Pukhtun poet of the century, was an artist and also a Member of the Indian Legislative Assembly in 1946–47. He first met him in 1947–48 and remained closely associated with him until his death in 1996.

Kata Pengantar Para pengikut Ibnu Taimiyah dan Muhammad bin Abdil Wahhab adalah orang-orang yang paling getol menyematkan kata “bid’ah” (tabdi’), “sesat” (tadzlil), “fasiq” (tafsiq) terhadap perkara apapun; hanya karena perkara tersebut tidak ada di zaman Rasulullah dan para sahabatnya. Tidak segan mengatakan bahwa semua perkara semacam itu tempatnya adalah neraka. Saklek, mereka mengatakan setiap pelaku bid’ah adalah orang sesat, dan setiap orang sesat bertempat di neraka. Timbul pertanyaan sederhana; apakah mereka berani mengatakan Ibnu Taimiyah seorang yang sesat? Bukankah Ibnu Taimiyah orang yang pertamakali merintis pembagian tauhid kepada Uluhiyyah, Rububiyyah dan al-Asma’ wa ash-Shifat? Lebih luas akan kita bahas dalam buku ini sesungguhnya apa yang menjadi latar belakang Ibnu Taimiyah membuat pembagian tauhid kepada tiga bagian ini. Sesungguhnya tumpuan dan pondasi pokok dari ajaran-ajaran Ibnu Taimiyah adalah berangkat dari pemahaman tiga tauhid ini. Faham ekstrim apapun dari Ibnu Taimiyah, seperti pernyataannya bahwa Allah punya bentuk dan ukuran, Allah bersifat dengan sifat-sifat benda; seperti gerak, turun, naik, datang, bertempat, duduk, dan lainnya, lalu pernyataannya bahwa Allah memiliki anggota-anggota badan, kemudian pernyataan ektrim lainnya; seperti bahwa perjalanan (safar) untuk tujuan ziarah ke makam Rasulullah adalah perjalanan maksiat sehingga tidak boleh melakukan qashar shalat karenanya, juga pernyataan Ibnu Taimiyah bahwa tawassul dan tabarruk dengan para Nabi atau para Wali adalah perbuatan syirik, dan berbagai faham ekstrim lainnya; semua itu sesungguhnya kembali kepada pemahaman pembagian tauhid kepada Uluhiyyah, Rububiyyah dan al-Asma’ wa ash-Shifat ini. Para ulama kita yang hidup semasa dengan Ibnu Taimiyah dan Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab, atau yang datang sesudah keduanya, telah banyak menuliskan bantahan terhadap faham-faham ekstrim keduanya. Seandainya para ulama kita dahulu mengetahui betapa besar akibat dari faham yang dirintis oleh Ibnu Taimiyah dan Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab di kemudian hari setelah masa mereka; maka tulisan-tulisan bantahan dari para ulama kita akan jauh lebih banyak dan lebih kuat lagi terhadap berbagai faham dua orang kotroversial ini.
