En este libro se presentan de forma teórica y aplicada algunos de los principales enfoques cognitivos, tanto los modelos clásicos, como los de Beck y Ellis, como otros más actuales que resaltan la evolución de la terapia cognitiva, como los de Wessler y Young, o el desarrollado por la autora , la Terapia Lingüística de Evaluación.Aunque es difícil definir los modelos cognitivos de una forma general, no cabe duda de que cada uno se preocupa de dar respuesta al problema de cómo aportamos significado y cómo conocemos los seres humanos. Los distintos enfoques recogidos se centran en estas dos importantes cuestiones desde perspectivas bien diferentes, en las que tienen cabida la relevancia del concepto de esquema (Beck), el esquema disfuncional temprano (Young), el concepto de pensamiento irracional (Ellis), las dificultades en la resolución de problemas (Nezu), la orientación hacia el lenguaje (Caro) o, finalmente, el papel del afecto (Wessler).Puesto que el libro tiene una doble vertiente teórica y aplicada, no sólo se presentan los principales conceptos de cada modelo, sino también sus técnicas y estructura general, y se plantea el desarrollo de distintos ejercicios prácticos y cuestionarios de auto-evaluación. Isabel Caro Gabalda es Doctora en Psicología por la Universidad de Valencia, en donde es docente en el Departamento de Personalidad, Evaluación y Tratamientos Psicológicos.
