Abstract: Normal diets, therapeutic diets, and the conditions for which they are prescribed are presented in a manual for physicians and dietitians. Therapeutic diets are given for management of diabetes, obesity, hyperlipidemia, gastrointestinal disorders, allergies, anorexia nervosa, urolithiasis, and hypoglycemia. Dietary control of sodium, potassium, protein, carbohydrate, fiber, copper, and fat is explained. Separate sections address: dietary needs during pregnancy and lactation, normal and therapeutic nutrition for infants and children, parenteral feeding and supplementation, and other dietary programs (test diets, etc.).
