Bevor die Bezeichnungen Marianne und Germania entstanden, existierten sowohl in Frankreich als auch in Deutschland Francia und Gallia genannte Frauenfiguren. Diese wurden als schöne Göttinnen mit langem wallenden Haar und teilweise auch mit einer Haube oder einem antiken Helm (ähnlich dem der Minerva) gezeigt. ...
