Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: In dieser Diplomarbeit geht es nicht nur darum, die Theorie des Weiterbildungsmarketings zu beschreiben, da dies schon in einer Vielzahl von Publikationen geschehen ist, sondern es wird dargestellt, wie die Marketingtheorie in die Praxis umgesetzt werden kann. Ein wesentlicher Grund für diese Entscheidung ist, dass zur praktischem Umsetzung der Marketingtheorie in einer Weiterbildungseinrichtung an der Universität Marburg bislang noch keine Diplomarbeiten verfasst wurden, so dass mit dieser Arbeit gewissermaßen Neuland betreten wird. Die zentrale Fragestellung dieser Diplomarbeit lautet: Was ist Weiterbildungsmarketing und wie wird dies an der vhs Marburg-Biedenkopf konkret umgesetzt? Diese Fragestellung wurde gewählt, weil es zunächst wichtig ist, die theoretischen Grundlagen des Marketings zu erläutern, da oftmals Marketing allein mit Öffentlichkeitsarbeit gleichgesetzt wird. Deshalb soll aufgezeigt werden, was mit Weiterbildungsmarketing gemeint ist. Hierzu zählen u.a. die Darstellung der Entstehungsgeschichte des Marketings und das Beschreiben wesentlicher, für die Weiterbildung relevanter Definitionen und Konzeptionen. Außerdem gilt es aufzuzeigen, welche Gründe dafür genannt werden können, dass Weiterbildungseinrichtungen verstärkt auf Marketing setzen und was ferner wesentliche Bestandteile des Weiterbildungsmarketings sind. Da es sich bei der vorliegenden Diplomarbeit um eine Theorie-Praxis-Reflexion handelt, wird zudem dargestellt, wie eine praktische Umsetzung der Marketingtheorie konkret aussehen kann. Als Beispieleinrichtung wurde die vhs Marburg-Biedenkopf gewählt. Diese Institution ist ein gutes Modell dafür, wie stark die Weiterbildung mit den finanziellen Problemen der Träger zu kämpfen hat, da dort z.B. weggefallene Stellen nicht mehr besetzt und unter den vorhandenen Mitarbeitern aufgeteilt werden. Außerdem werden die finanziellen Zuwendungen des Trägers immer knapper, so dass die Einrichtung versuchen muss, für ihre Produkte, d.h. die zahlreichen Angebote zu werben. Aus diesem Grund betreibt die vhs seit mehreren Jahren erfolgreiches Marketing, wie sich im weiteren Verlauf der Arbeit noch zeigen wird. Voraussetzung für die Ausübung des Marketings sind die Vorgaben des Marketingverbundes der hessischen Volkshochschulen, zu der die Einrichtung seit seiner Gründung gehört. Im Zentrum dieser Studie steht der Stellenwert des Marketings für die Weiterbildung. In diesem Zusammenhang wird ersichtlich, dass es nicht nur die immer defizitäreren Haushalte waren, die zu einem Umdenken in der Erwachsenenbildung führten. Auch die steigende Konkurrenz auf dem Bildungsmarkt lieferte Gründe dafür, dass sich die Institutionen vergegenwärtigen mussten, worin ihr spezifisches Profil liegt und wie sie es mithilfe der Instrumente des Marketings nach außen und innen kommunizieren können. Die Marketingbestandteile können als Organisationshilfen aufgefasst werden, die den einzelnen Weiterbildungseinrichtungen bei den zahlreichen Umsteuerungsprozessen helfen können. Dies hängt damit zusammen, dass das Marketing "analytisch-strategische Instrumentarien" liefert, die ermöglichen, dass das Handeln der Institutionen in eine Umgebung handlungsleitender Elemente integriert wird. Ziel dieser Elemente ist die Verbesserung der Wirtschaftlichkeit, die Optimierung der Positionsbestimmung auf dem Weiterbildungsmarkt und die erfolgsorientierte Gestaltung der Ablauforganisation unter Berücksichtigung der Teilnehmenden.
