Euro Disney Paris As The Largest Single Foreign Direct Investment In France The Location Decision Of The Walt Disney Company And Its Impact On Regional Infrastructures written by Stephanie Rohac and has been published by GRIN Verlag this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-08 with Regional economics categories.

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2006 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,0, Leipzig University of Applied Sciences, 35 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: "Once, Disney's CEO Michael Eisner commented the entertainment business with these words: "Fantasy is very hard work. To make something fun, is hard. It's gratifying. It's satisfying. But fun? No." ... ...]" This thesis occupies on location decisions for Foreign Direct Investment and its particular impact on regional structures. Against the background of the entertainment industry and regarding the specific case of Euro Disney, expectations and reasons for locating an economic activity as well as the examination of the effect for the region are pointed out. In particular, the focus goes to the analysis of the location decision made by The Walt Disney Company and its impact on regional infrastructures. Aim is to show how an individual incentive package and especially the provision of key infrastructure can influence the location decision of potential investors particular in business with high infrastructural awareness. Further, the case of Marne-la-Vall e is an excellent example for an observation how Foreign Direct Investment can help to advance regional development. Especially caused by the specific characteristics of the theme parks and resort business, the focus to the location decision in particular view to the infrastructural development seems to be interesting. Nevertheless, the successful operation of a theme park highly depends on the location and infrastructural network connecting the site in all directions. This thesis may be interesting for regions willing to attract investors and for potential investors as well. Certain businesses such as the theme park and resort one are highly dependent on excellent infrastructural connection, besides all fiscal and financial incentives, infrastructure often is presumed as self-evident. Maritime Ports Supply Chains And Logistics Corridors written by Cyrille Bertelle and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-12-01 with Business & Economics categories.

This book aims to highlight the interrelations between maritime ports, supply chains and logistics. Inland corridors could be defined as major arteries for inland transportation from and to the maritime port. They link together one or several ports located on the maritime range with one or several major inland metropolitan areas. The efficiency of international supply chains depends not only on the smooth operations in the port but also on the efficiency of inland distribution in terms of cost, reliability, added value services for the goods, safety and finally the environment. With contributions from international experts, the book offers a transversal perspective on logistics corridor development using case studies on the Seine Axis, among others. Organized into four key sections, the book highlights the interrelations between ports and corridors using both empirical and theoretical research from various disciplines, including engineering as well as human and social sciences. Maritime Ports,Supply Chains and Logistics Corridors will be directly relevant to a wide variety of scholars and postgraduate researchers in the fields of transport studies and management, maritime logistics, supply chain management and international logistics as well as industrial engineering, geography, economics and political science.

Towards Knowledge Portals written by B. Detlor and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-05-31 with Computers categories.

Adopting an informational perspective towards knowledge work, this book investigates how enterprise portals can promote knowledge creation, distribution, and use. Moving beyond the design and delivery of portals as mere information retrieval tools, an enterprise portal is viewed as a shared information work space that can facilitate communication and collaboration among organizational workers, as well as support the browsing, searching, and retrieval of information content. Adopting an information vantage point, the book uniquely explores the human issues surrounding enterprise portal adoption and use, as well as the utilization of intelligent agents to ameliorate the use of portals for knowledge-based tasks. The result is a novel, rich and comprehensive discussion on the factors affecting the design and utilization of enterprise portals for knowledge work, suitable for both graduate-level students and organizational workers alike.

Web Search Public Searching Of The Web written by Amanda Spink and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-02-21 with Computers categories.

This book brings together results from the Web search studies we conducted from 1997 through 2004. The aim of our studies has been twofold: to examine how the public at large searches the Web and to highlight trends in public Web searching. The eight-year period from 1997 to 2004 saw the beginnings and maturity of public Web searching. Commercial Web search engines have come and gone, or endured, through the fall of the dot.com companies. We saw the rise and, in some cases, the demise of several high profile, publicly available Web search engines. The study of the Web search is an exciting and important area of interdisciplinary research. Our book provides a valuable insight into the growth and development of human interaction with Web search engines. In this book, our focus is on the human aspect of the interaction between user and Web search engine. We do not investigate the Web search engines themselves or their constantly changing interfaces, algorithms and features. We focus on exploring the cognitive and user aspects of public Web searching in the aggregate. We use a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods within the overall methodology known as transaction log analysis.

Immigration Race And Ethnicity In Contemporary France written by Alec Hargreaves and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-09-28 with History categories.

First published in 1995. Immigration is one of the most significant and pressing issues in contemporary France. It has stirred up controversies over concepts such as the ‘ghetto’ and the ‘underclass’; it has erupted in flashpoints such as the Islamic headscarf affair, the Gulf War and the reform of French nationality laws, and it has become central to political debate with the rise of Jean-Marie Le Pen’s extreme right-wing Front National. This is the first comprehensive survey to be published in English covering developments in this field during the last twenty years. Spanning politics and economics, social structures and cultural practices, this authoritative study will be of keen interest to under graduates and researchers in French studies, migration studies and ethnic relations, and a wide range of social science disciplines.

“The more narrowly we examine language, the sharper becomes the con?ict - tween it and our requirement. (For the crystalline purity of logic was, of course, not a result of investigation; it was a requirement. ) The con?ict becomes intolerable; the requirement is now in danger of becoming empty. —We have got onto slippery ice where there is no friction and so in a certain sense the conditions are ideal, but also, just because of that, we are unable to walk. We want to walk; so we need 1 friction. Back to the rough ground!” —Ludwig Wittgenstein This manuscript consists of four related parts: a brief overview of Wittgenstein’s p- losophy of language and its relevance to information systems; a detailed explanation of Wittgenstein’s late philosophy of language and mind; an extended discussion of the re- vance of his philosophy to understanding some of the problems inherent in information systems, especially those systems which rely on retrieval based on some representation of the intellectual content of that information. And, fourthly, a series of detailed footnotes which cite the sources of the numerous quotations and provide some discussion of the related issues that the text inspires. The ?rst three of these parts can each be read by itself with some pro?t, although they are related and do form a conceptual whole.
