Every couple I've ever married typically has expectations of long-term success. I know of no one who utters under his or her breath, "I can't wait for this marriage to die," as he or she walks deliberately down the aisle. That would be absurd! They might think that there may be a bit of an initial adjustment, but they genuinely believe that it will be a good life together. Prayerfully, they hope for a very happy life indeed. This book addresses the well-intentioned innocence and the poorly-informed ignorance that we all face, as we enter married life. The preconceived ideas, personal expectations, erroneous assumptions, misinformed understandings, and faulty perceptions of reality all serve to confuse, disappoint, and would even destroy the fabric of emotional trust and happiness that our soul desperately craves. As you enter this world of Marital Death and Marital Life, many of you will wonder if I live in your house. No, but I live in my house, and experience many of the same things, because we are all male or female and are generally poorly prepared for marriage. This book, if you choose to follow it, will help clarify, teach, and correct that which is broken, and provide renewed trust, continual hope, and a refreshed deeper love. Be mindful that we are all "failers," but only a "failure" when we quit. It is almost always, too soon to quit.

Marriage To Death written by Rush Rehm and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-01-15 with Drama categories.

The link between weddings and death—as found in dramas ranging from Romeo and Juliet to Lorca's Blood Wedding—plays a central role in the action of many Greek tragedies. Female characters such as Kassandra, Antigone, and Helen enact and refer to significant parts of wedding and funeral rites, but often in a twisted fashion. Over time the pressure of dramatic events causes the distinctions between weddings and funerals to disappear. In this book, Rush Rehm considers how and why the conflation of the two ceremonies comes to theatrical life in the tragedies of Aeschylus, Sophokles, and Euripides. By focusing on the dramatization of important rituals conducted by women in ancient Athenian society, Rehm offers a new perspective on Greek tragedy and the challenges it posed for its audience. The conflation of weddings and funerals, the author argues, unleashes a kind of dramatic alchemy whereby female characters become the bearers of new possibilities. Such as formulation enables the tragedians to explore the limitations of traditional thinking and acting in fifth-century Athens. Rehm finds that when tragic weddings and funerals become confused and perverted, the aftershocks disturb the political and ideological givens of Athenian society, challenging the audience to consider new, and often radically different, directions for their city. Rush Rehm is Assistant Professor of Drama and Classics at Standford University and a free-lance theater director. He is the author of Greek Tragic Theatre (Routledge) and Aeschylus' Oresteia: A Theatre Vision (Hawthorn). Originally published in 1994. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. Death Did Us Part written by Florence A. Juma and has been published by Word Alive Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-01-23 with Religion categories.

Death Did Us Part presents a short story about the tumultuous marital relationship of a couple at the brink of divorce. The book, based on a true story, is a reflection on some of the pitfalls that plagued the marriage of Akawd and Muka and brought it to its deathbed. Interestingly, Akawd and Muka were both committed Christians and leaders in their church when they immigrated to Canada from Africa. By sharing this story, I provide an opportunity for readers to both understand better and safely observe the parallels that might exist between their own relationships and this couple’s. These patterns may then be named and safely externalized. The book also serves to celebrate marriages and the couples who keep their vows.
