Tout commence par une rencontre, deux créateurs, deux trajets personnels qui se croisent. André Wogenscky est un jeune architecte, chef d'agence chez Le Corbusier. Marta Pan est une jeune sculptrice hongroise arrivée en France à vingt-trois ans. Ils se rencontrent à Paris, l'un et l'autre ont déjà une oeuvre en cours, des convictions, des affinités, une passion partagée pour une modernité à construire et à divulguer. André Wogenscky invente une théorie de "l'architecture active" qu'il veut renforcer par une organisation esthétique : "Si j'avais encore beaucoup d'années devant moi, j'essaierais d'élargir mon propos en évoquant non seulement une architecture active, mais un art actif". "La sculpture nous suractive", ajoutait-il, signifiant en cela que Marta avait déjà découvert cet art. Toute à se propres recherches, celle-ci affirmait : "Cette faculté d'agir sur le lieu et sur le comportement des personnes qui le traversent, cette faculté est notre force, notre raison d'être et notre responsabilité". "L'oeuvre croisé" est cet apprentissage de l'autre, la confrontation des accords et des divergences, le constat et la construction d'un corpus de pensée et de projet qui fait oeuvre commune. François Barré s'applique à distinguer dans cette aventure toujours périlleuse, ces points de rencontre, qui de l'un à l'autre - sculpture-architecture, architecture-sculpture - appartiennent complètement à l'écriture de chacun et forment cependant, dans la reconnaissance et l'échange, une oeuvre chorale. Une oeuvre majeure de l'architecture et de l'art de notre temps.
