Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Theologie - Systematische Theologie, Note: 1,7, Universität Hohenheim (Institut für Kulturwissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Systematische Theologie: Die Theologie Martin Luthers, 28 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Zur Einführung möchte ich gerne meine Vorgehensweise kurz erläutern und auf die Schwerpunkte der Seminararbeit näher eingehen. Dabei lässt sich rückblickend feststellen, dass von der ersten Literaturrecherche bis zur Fertigstellung der Arbeit immerhin fünf Monate vergangen sind, die immer wieder von Arbeitsunterbrechungen gekennzeichnet waren. Diese haben sich insofern ausgewirkt, als dass es nach einer längeren Pause immer wieder einer gewissen Einarbeitungsphase in die Literatur- und Schreibarbeit bedurfte. Wie dem auch sei, zu Beginn habe ich mich auf die ausgewählten Lutherquellen der Kapitel ¿2 und ¿3 beschränkt und noch keine Sekundärliteratur herangezogen. Diese Vorgehensweise habe ich bewusst gewählt, um nicht frühzeitig Interpretationen anderer Autoren zu übernehmen, bevor ich nicht meine eigene gefunden hatte. Damit ist aber die Frage noch nicht beantwortet, nach welchen Gesichtspunkten ich die Lutherwerke ausgewählt habe! Bei der Wahl der Hauptschrift "Von der Freiheit eines Christenmenschen" habe ich mich zuerst von meinem Bauchgefühl leiten lassen. Bei etwas genauerer Analyse erschien mir dieser Text mit seiner paradox klingenden Doppelthese sehr gut geeignet zu sein, zumal sich daran wesentliche Aspekte der Lutherschen Christologie und Rechtfertigungslehre schön entfalteten. Bei den weiteren Werken war neben dem inhaltlichen Aspekt vor allem der Entstehungszeitpunkt wichtig, um die Entwicklung in der Lutherschen Theologie zumindest punktuell nachvollziehbar zu machen. Ein auf den ersten Blick möglicherweise auffälliger Aspekt dieser Arbeit ist die religionspädagogische Umsetzung in Kapitel ¿6. Nicht nur im Rahmen meines Studiums ist mir dieser Punkt wichtig, sondern vor allem in Hinblick auf den späteren Beruf als Religionslehrer eine gute Übung, um ein anspruchsvolles Thema anhand eines theoretischen Gerüsts - wenn auch auf abstrakter Ebene - durchzuspielen. Damit komme ich zu meiner Motivation für die Themenwahl: Das Kernstück der Lutherschen Theologie - das aufgrund seiner beinahe unerschöpflichen (Sekundär-)Literatur schon in allen Winkelzügen erschlossen zu sein scheint - in den wesentlichen Grundzügen anschaulich vorzustellen, war für mich Herausforderung und Antrieb. Andererseits ergibt sich dadurch auch die Chance, neue Überlegungen zu diesem Thema anzustellen, die dieser Arbeit eine hoffentlich persönliche Note verleihen.

Martin Luther was a German friar, priest and professor of theology who was a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation. Luther taught that salvation and subsequently eternity in heaven is not earned by good deeds but is received only as a free gift of God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ as redeemer from sin and subsequently eternity in hell. His theology challenged the authority and office of the Pope by teaching that the Bible is the only source of divinely revealed knowledge from God and opposed sacerdotalism by considering all baptized Christians to be a holy priesthood. Those who identify with these, and all of Luther's wider teachings, are called Lutherans even though Luther insisted on Christian as the only acceptable name for individuals who professed Christ. Today, Lutheranism constitutes a major branch of Protestantism and overall Christianity with some 80 million adherents.

The first systematic attempt to reconstruct from original manuscript sources and early printed books the medieval doctrines relating to the just war, the holy war and the crusade. Despite the frequency of wars and armed conflicts throughout the course of western history, no comprehensive survey has previously been made of the justifications of warfare that were elaborated by Roman lawyers, canon lawyers and theologians in the twelfth and thirteenth century universities. After a brief survey of theories of the just war in antiquity, with emphasis on Cicero and Augustine, and of thought on early medieval warfare, the central chapters are devoted to scholastics such as Pope Innocent IV, Hostiensis and Thomas Aquinas. Professor Russell attempts to correlate theories of the just war with political and intellectual development in the Middle Ages. His conclusion evaluates the just war in the light of late medieval and early modern statecraft and poses questions about its compatibility with Christian ethics and its validity within international law.
