Small Group Instruction written by Timothy E. Morse and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing PLC this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-28 with Education categories.
This book presents information about the design and provision of small group instruction to students who present persistent, ongoing learning challenges. This includes students who receive special education services as well as at risk students who need to be provided remedial instruction. At the outset, reasons for using a small group arrangement are offered. These include (a) limits to public school funding that do not allow for 1:1 instructional arrangements to be used with most students who present learning challenges, (b) the instructional efficiency that can be realized through small group instruction, and (c) the fact that group instructional arrangements predominate in schools’ least restrictive environments. Subsequently, numerous details that instructors must attend to as they oversee small group instruction are discussed. These details include identifying which students will comprise a group and the specific curricula content they will be taught, designing an appropriate environment, and using data to drive the provision of effective and efficient instruction. While the primary audience for this book is preservice and practicing teachers, it is appropriate for anyone tasked to lead a small group. Further, the book’s content can be applied to various curricula, including academic and functional (or life skills) content.

By now it’s a given: if we’re to help our ELLs and SELs access the rigorous demands of today’s content standards, we must cultivate the “code” that drives school success: academic language. Look no further for assistance than this much-anticipated series from Ivannia Soto, in which she invites field authorities Jeff Zwiers, David and Yvonne Freeman, Margarita Calderon, and Noma LeMoine to share every teacher’s need-to-know strategies on the four essential components of academic language. Here, Jeff Zwiers reveals the power of academic conversation in helping students develop language, clarify concepts, comprehend complex texts, and fortify thinking and relational skills. With this book as your roadmap, you’ll learn how to: Foster the skills and language students must develop for productive interactions Implement strategies for scaffolding paired conversations Assess student’s oral language development as you go It’s imperative that our ELLs and SELs practice academic language in rich conversations with others in school, especially when our classrooms may be their only opportunities to receive modeling, scaffolding, and feedback focused on effective discourse. Mastering Modern Psychological Testing written by Cecil R. Reynolds and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-05-13 with Psychology categories.
This book provides a comprehensive introduction to psychological assessment and covers areas not typically addressed in existing test and measurements texts, such as neuropsychological assessment and the use of tests in forensics settings. The book introduces the vocabulary of the profession and the most basic mathematics of testing early as being fundamental to understanding the field. Numerous examples are drawn from tests that the authors have written or otherwise helped to develop, reflecting the authors’ deep understanding of these tests and their familiarity with problems encountered in test development, use, and interpretation. Following the introduction of the basic areas of psychometrics, the book moves to areas of testing that represent various approaches to measuring different psychological constructs (memory, language, executive function, etc.), with emphasis on the complex issue of cultural bias in testing. Examples of existing tests are given throughout the book; however, this book is not designed to prepare students to go out and administer, score, and interpret specific psychological tests. Rather, the purpose of this book is to provide the foundational core of knowledge about tests, measurement, and assessment constructs, issues, and quantitative tools. Explains what constitutes a psychological test, how tests are developed, how they are best used, and how to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses; Describes areas of testing that represent different approaches to measuring different psychological constructs; Explains applications of psychological testing to issues in the courts; Addresses how test authors and publishers design and research tests to address the difficult and demanding issues of cultural differences in test performance and interpretation of test results.
