Hermann Hesse S Global Impact written by Oscar Von Seth and has been published by Boydell & Brewer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024 with Literary Criticism categories.

"A timely collection of new essays arguing for the continuing relevance and impact of Hesse's works around the world. Hermann Hesse remains one of the great figures of world literature. He is the world's 35th most translated author, with more than 1,500 translations of his works currently listed on UNESCO's Index Translatorium. Our understanding of the reciprocal transcultural reception of literature has been radically transformed in the last two decades, starting with David Damrosch's What is World Literature? (2003). Meanwhile, some forty years have passed since Martin Pfeifer's anthology Hermann Hesses weltweite Wirkung (Hermann Hesse's Worldwide Impact) was published, which means it is time to consider Hesse's global impact again, though not in terms of a country-by-country study. Rather, this book explores Hesse's continuing global relevance more broadly. Hesse is "global" in the sense that his themes touch on the non-material side of human existence in a way that readers in different cultural communities respond to. His prose and poetry offer an oasis of calm, authenticity, and spirituality-a mental terrain of profound and genuine meaning. The present collection of new essays argues that this "spiritual capital" may help readers of Hesse in uncertain times, beyond the doctrines of organized religions or ideologies, assisting them in inhabiting creatively both the world of literature and the visceral world of the early 21st century. Edited by Ingo Cornils and NealeCunningham. Contributors: Flavia Arzeni, Zhan Chunhua, Thomas Cyron, Helga Esselborn-Krumbiegel, Carina Grèoner, Karl-Josef Kuschel, Thomas Taro Lennerfors, Volker Michels, Christopher Newton, Shrikant Arun Pathak, John Pizer, Adam Roberts, Oscar von Seth, Christiane Schèonfeld, Laszlo V. Naming What We Know: Threshold Concepts of Writing Studies, published in 2015, contributed to a discussion about the relevance of identifying key concepts and ideas of writing studies. (Re)Considering What We Know continues that conversation while simultaneously raising questions about the ideas around threshold concepts. Contributions introduce new concepts, investigate threshold concepts as a framework, and explore their use within and beyond writing. Part 1 raises questions about the ideologies of consensus that are associated with naming threshold concepts of a discipline. Contributions challenge the idea of consensus and seek to expand both the threshold concepts framework and the concepts themselves. Part 2 focuses on threshold concepts in action and practice, demonstrating the innovative ways threshold concepts and a threshold concepts framework have been used in writing courses and programs. Part 3 shows how a threshold concepts framework can help us engage in conversations beyond writing studies. (Re)Considering What We Know raises new questions and offers new ideas that can help to advance the discussion and use of threshold concepts in the field of writing studies. It will be of great interest to scholars and graduate students in writing studies, especially those who have previously engaged with Naming What We Know. Filling a crucial need, this book presents a time- and cost-effective therapy program oriented to the concerned significant other (CSO) who wants to motivate a family member or partner to seek help. Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) is a nonconfrontational approach that teaches CSOs how to change their own behavior in order to reward sobriety, discourage substance use, and ultimately to help get the substance abuser into treatment. The CSO also gains valuable skills for problem solving and self-care. Step-by-step instructions for implementing CRAFT are accompanied by helpful case examples and reproducibles.

Isaac Bennett written by Andrew Griffiths and has been published by BoD – Books on Demand this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-04-01 with Social Science categories.

This book is not about the great architects of the Georgian city of Bath, like John Wood the Elder, who designed the Circus, or his son, who planned the Royal Crescent. Instead, this is about an ordinary builder, who contracted to erect sections of those grand designs according to the plans laid before him. My 4th great grandfather, Isaac Bennett (1748-1812), worked in relative obscurity to help fulfil the grand schemes of the famous architects but ended in bankruptcy and debtor's prison. His private life was also full of setbacks. I hope to understand him better through writing this book about him, his origins and his descendants.

An Eerdmans Reader in Contemporary Political Theology gathers some of the most significant and influential writings in political theology from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Given that the locus of Christianity is undeniably shifting to the global South, this volume uniquely integrates key voices from Africa, Asia, and Latin America with central texts from Europe and North America on such major subjects as church and state, gender and race, and Christendom and postcolonialism. Carefully selected, thematically arranged, and expertly introduced, these forty-nine essential readings constitute an ideal primary-source introduction to contemporary political theology a profoundly relevant resource for globally engaged citizens, students, and scholars.
