El objetivo principal de esta tesis doctoral ha sido la revisión, ampliación y descripción de la producción editorial de las imprentas vallisoletanas del siglo XVI, siendo el punto de partida para su elaboración el repertorio de noticias sobre ediciones pincianas acopiadas por María Marsá en los Materiales para una historia de la imprenta en Valladolid (siglos XVI y XVII), publicado en 2007. Hemos acotado el objeto de estudio de esta investigación al corpus de ediciones publicadas en las imprentas pucelanas desde el año 1501 hasta 1560, por ser este el periodo de predominio de las tipografías góticas en las imprentas peninsulares del siglo XVI; y con posterioridad a esa fecha, todas aquellas ediciones en las que ha sido posible documentar la pervivencia de tipografías góticas como fenómeno característico y singularizador de la imprenta quinientista peninsular. El trabajo ha quedado estructurado en dos bloques: el Estudio introductorio y el Repertorio tipobibliográfico. El estudio introductorio ofrece cinco capítulos. El primero, El estudio de la imprenta en Valladolid en el siglo XVI: precedentes de la tipobibliografía pucelana ofrece la reconstrucción histórico-bibliográfica de los diversos intentos de elaboración del repertorio tipobibliográfico de la imprenta vallisoletana; el segundo, Imprentas e impresores en Valladolid en el siglo XVI: periodo gótico, se propone reconstruir y contextualizar la actividad editorial de los talleres vallisoletanos con producción gótica en el conjunto del panorama impresorio peninsular. El tercer capítulo, Los materiales tipográficos de las imprentas de Valladolid en el siglo XVI, ofrece el muestrario descriptivo de todas las fundiciones góticas ¿codificadas según su diseño y la medida del cuerpo¿ que pertenecieron a las imprentas pucelanas del siglo XVI. El capítulo cuarto expone la metodología y los criterios de elaboración del repertorio y el quinto capítulo ofrece las conclusiones. El Repertorio tipobibliográfico está integrado por 348 noticias bibliográficas, completado con la Relación cronológica de ediciones vallisoletanas posibles. A continuación, ofrecemos la Relación cronológica de ediciones imaginarias, en la que hemos procurado aclarar y depurar las noticia sespurias sobre ediciones vallisoletanas. Cierran el repertorio varios instrumentos de consulta cuya finalidad es precisamente facilitar su manejo y el mejor aprovechamiento de su información: el Catálogo alfabético abreviado de las ediciones contenidas en el repertorio que permite documentar la historia editorial de una obra al quedar registradas todas las ediciones que de ella se publicaron en Valladolid; y el Índice onomástico complementario, que recoge el nombre de todas las personas citadas en las descripciones y en las notas complementarias de cada noticia; tres apéndices que contienen: la Relación de bibliotecas, un Índice de marcas de procedencia y posesión y un Índice de ediciones incunables vallisoletanas. Después aparece la bibliografía, dividida en Repertorios, catálogos y estudios citados abreviadamente y Otras fuentes consultadas para el estudio y el repertorio. Por último, ofrecemos una Tabla de concordancias con otros repertorios, y las Abreviaturas de uso frecuente en el repertorio y en los índices. Cierra el repertorio una selección de láminas a modo de muestrario de una parte de los materiales tipográficos e iconográficos que pertenecieron a las imprentas estudiadas.

Editing and literature in Spain (XVI and XVII) is a collection of seventeen articles by leading specialists in Spanish literature of the Golden Age and history of literacy. As part of a multidisciplinary reflection conditions are studied jointly publication and dissemination of literary works in the Golden Age and the significance of the texts. The interest in the materiality of the old book in its more technical various aspects sheds light on the conditions of production and reception of texts. This reflection on editorial practice in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and in particular on the role of author and involvement of the different actors and actions on the text, are some of the main issues addressed. Also the role of the physical space of the old book in the study of textuality is questioned, in order to highlight the set of elements that influence reading and promote access to meaning. Besides the attempt to reconstitute the passage of text printing, the book is a reflection on the issue of golden works today, taking into account the new dissemination tools.

This volume explores the production of knowledge of normativity in the age of early modern globalisation by looking at an extraordinarily pragmatic and normative book: Manual de Confessores, by the Spanish canon law professor Martín de Azpilcueta (1492-1586). El presente trabajo aborda la relación del individuo con los libros en la Monarquía Hispánica a través del estudio de varias colecciones cuyos dueños y usuarios, entre los que se cuentan médicos, mercaderes, frailes y burócratas, representaron los usos y maneras del consumo cultural en ese complejo entramado político, extendido por varios continentes. El estudio de los títulos y también de los autores (algunos vertebrales en el currículum educativo de la época, como puede ser Elio Antonio de Nebrija) permite acercarnos a un universo de relaciones y prácticas culturales cuyo trasfondo común, la pertenencia a la misma monarquía, sirve de hilo que atraviesa los límites geográficos y temporales. La perspectiva comparada que enriquece la obra ofrece la posibilidad de observar tendencias, como la suerte de diversas materias (historia, medicina, teología, etc.) a lo largo de tres siglos o la construcción y, por tanto, la interpretación que los individuos hacían del material impreso. En definitiva, los seis estudios que conforman este libro nos brindan la oportunidad de analizar el universo cultural del extenso mundo de la Monarquía Hispánica, caminando desde el Renacimiento y el Barroco hasta la Ilustración y desde la península ibérica hasta Chile.
