In this classic of statistical mathematical theory, Harald Cram r joins the two major lines of development in the field: while British and American statisticians were developing the science of statistical inference, French and Russian probabilitists transformed the classical calculus of probability into a rigorous and pure mathematical theory. The result of Cram r's work is a masterly exposition of the mathematical methods of modern statistics that set the standard that others have since sought to follow. For anyone with a working knowledge of undergraduate mathematics the book is self contained. The first part is an introduction to the fundamental concept of a distribution and of integration with respect to a distribution. The second part contains the general theory of random variables and probability distributions while the third is devoted to the theory of sampling, statistical estimation, and tests of significance.

Graphics For Statistics And Data Analysis With R written by Kevin J Keen and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-04-26 with Mathematics categories.

Graphics for Statistics and Data Analysis with R presents the basic principles of sound graphical design and applies these principles to engaging examples using the graphical functions available in R. It offers a wide array of graphical displays for the presentation of data, including modern tools for data visualization and representation. The book considers graphical displays of a single discrete variable, a single continuous variable, and then two or more of each of these. It includes displays and the R code for producing the displays for the dot chart, bar chart, pictographs, stemplot, boxplot, and variations on the quantile-quantile plot. The author discusses nonparametric and parametric density estimation, diagnostic plots for the simple linear regression model, polynomial regression, and locally weighted polynomial regression for producing a smooth curve through data on a scatterplot. The last chapter illustrates visualizing multivariate data with examples using Trellis graphics. Showing how to use graphics to display or summarize data, this text provides best practice guidelines for producing and choosing among graphical displays. It also covers the most effective graphing functions in R. R code is available for download on the book’s website.

Statistics For Lawyers written by Michael O. Finkelstein and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-04-18 with Social Science categories.

Designed to introduce law students, law teachers, practitioners, and judges to the basic ideas of mathematical probability and statistics as they have been applied in the law, the book consists of sections of exposition followed by real-world cases and case studies in which stastical data have played a role. Readers are asked to apply the theory to the facts, to calculate results (a pocket calculator is sufficient), and to explore legal issues raised by quantitative findings, while the author's own calculations and comments are given in the back of the book. The cases and case studies reflect a broad variety of legal subjects, including antidiscrimination, mass torts, taxation, school finance, identification evidence, preventive detention, handwriting disputes, voting, environmental protection, antitrust, and the death penalty. The first edition has been used in law, statistics, and social science courses, and in 1991 was selected by the University of Michigan Law Review as one of the important law books of the year. This second edition includes many new problems reflecting current developments in the law, including a new chapter on epidemiology.

Harald Cram R Collected Works written by Harald Cramer and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-07-31 with Mathematics categories.

This is a collection of Harald Cramer's extensive works on number theory, probability, mathematical statistics and insurance mathematics. Many of these are not easily found nowadays in their original sources, for instance his pioneering works on risk theory published in jubilee volumes of the Skandia Insurance Company in 1930 and 1955. Despite their age, these eminent examples of Cramer's expository style remain highly readable. Cramer (Stockholm 1893-1985) was one of the "fathers" of modern mathematical statistics. His famous book on the subject is still an important reference. His statistical papers included here were seminal to the subsequent development of the subject. The collection includes a complete bibliography of Cramer's work.

Harald Cramér’s classic synthesis of statistical mathematical theory—an invaluable resource for students and practitioners alike In the 1930s, as British and American statisticians were developing the science of statistical inference, French and Russian probabilitists transformed the classical calculus of probability into a rigorous and pure mathematical theory. In this incisive and authoritative book, Harald Cramér unites these two major lines of development, providing a masterly exposition of the mathematical methods of modern statistics that set the standard in the field still followed today. Requiring only a working knowledge of undergraduate mathematics, this self-contained book begins with an introduction to the fundamental concept of a distribution and of integration with respect to a distribution. It goes on to discuss the general theory of random variables and probability distributions, the theory of sampling, statistical estimation, and tests of significance. Blending lucid and accessible writing with mathematical rigor, Mathematical Methods of Statistics belongs on the shelf of anyone interested in statistical methods and remains the standard reference on the subject today.
