Dieses Handbuch für den Mathematikunterricht der Sekundarstufe („Handbuch S“) setzt das mit Gerhard N. Müller verfasste „Handbuch produktiver Rechenübungen“ für die Grundschule („Handbuch G“) fort. Wie das „Handbuch G“ versteht sich auch das „Handbuch S“ als Referenztext für eine professionelle Lehrerbildung in beiden Phasen und für die Praxis. Es vermittelt ein praktikables Konzept für eine fachlich fundierte, schlanke Unterrichtsvorbereitung ohne methodischen Schnickschnack. Nebenher fördert es auch die aktive Auseinandersetzung mit dem Fach und seinem Bildungswert. Mit dieser erweiterten Zielsetzung sollen ausdrücklich auch das professionelle Profil der Lehrpersonen und ihre fachliche Autorität gestärkt werden. Sowohl die Schüler als auch die Eltern haben dafür ein feines Gespür.
