When talking to many Christians, I have noticed that they are having problems maturing in their spiritual walk. They speak of their love for the Lord but cannot seem to be able to love one another or get alone with others as being a Christian. Many will say "it takes a lot to get along with people and they don't think that they can do it." The truth of the matter is without Christ working through the Holy Spirit in us it will not happen. When you and I allow the Holy Spirit to mature the Fruit of the Spirit in us we will be able to do all the things Christ wants us to do. It is the power of God and not of ourselves that the fruit of the Spirit matures. In this book I would like to use the Holy Scriptures through the Spirit of God to help us work on maturing "The Fruit of The Spirit" in our lives.

We're all love hacks ... but it doesn't have to be this way. Jesus gave a new teaching on the eve of His crucifixion: "Love one another as I have loved you." He said that His followers would be known for their love. Yet few have experienced His love. Fewer still actually love like Him. As a recovering love hack, Rankin knows firsthand the struggles of moving beyond feelings and good intentions into the reality of loving others through actions. For love to become a way of life, we need to follow Jesus down a clear path. Do Love is a fresh call to establish love as the distinctive Christlike trait in our lives.

There’s an old joke about a young boy who continually fell out of bed. No matter what the parents did, nothing helped. One night, the parents heard a loud thump, ran to their son’s room, and found him on the floor. The dad asked what had happened. The boy said, “I guess I stayed too close to the place where I got in.” When it comes to spiritual maturity, most Christians can say the same thing: “I’ve stayed too close to where I got in.” In other words, we haven’t grown much since we first became believers. It’s not that believers don’t desire a mature walk with Jesus. Most followers don’t know how to grow. In Love Like Jesus, author Rev. Dr. Robert L. Morris Jr. offers an in-depth look at the Beatitudes, Jesus’ teaching on spiritual growth. Jesus teaches the eight steps in the growth cycle, and each spiritual truth builds on the one(s) previously taught. He began with the necessity of mourning and concluded with a victorious faith during times of persecution. Morris discusses that to learn to love as Jesus loves, we must become more like him. Spiritual growth is not a stroll in the park; it’s an intentional lifelong journey with a mixture of hardships and victories. But it’s always worth the trip. In the end, our hearts will be transformed, and we’ll become more and more like the savior. The Beatitudes are the pathway, the starting place.

How does healing fit into God's will, especially when God doesn't heal? Our hearts, our bodies, and our world are desperate for healing. We all experience brokenness, and we rightfully look to Jesus for restoration. But many Christians have been taught the lie that God will heal us if our faith is strong enough, and that he is punishing us when bad things happen. Growing up in one of the world's leading faith-healing dynasties, Costi Hinn witnessed the tragedy of people chasing after healing more than the Healer. In this book he provides biblical clarity to some of the most challenging questions of the Christian faith. Does grace guarantee healing? How do we catch ourselves from slipping into the trap of seeking God for what he can do for us and not for who he really is? Beginning with the vivid memory of the night he discovered his son's cancer diagnosis—Costi unpacks the layered feelings and questions we have about God and his healing power, and he provides practical principles for growing closer to Jesus. With gentle clarity and biblical wisdom, he explains how to: Faithfully pray for healing while trusting in God's sovereignty. Navigate tough conversations about the topics of divine healing, love, and justice. Hold on to faith even in the most painful trials. More than chasing after the Jesus we want, this hopeful and encouraging book will guide you to discovering the Jesus we truly need—and the true power and hope that comes from a genuine relationship with him.

Three ’windows’ to spiritual maturity How can a faithful Christian avoid stagnating in their spiritual development? Moving Toward Spiritual Maturity: Psychological, Contemplative, and Moral Challenges in Christian Living explores effective ways in which Christian discipleship can grow in spiritual maturity. This thoughtful, integrative roadmap explains the journey through three interrelated perspectives, or ’windows,’ psychotherapeutic psychology, prayer and contemplation, and moral theology. The author uses numerous examples from everyday life to make the reflections interesting and practical. Unlike other books on Christian spirituality, this book is more challenging and sophisticated in its depth of thought. Spiritual maturity is a process that begins when a person accepts Jesus Christ as Savior, and progresses ongoing through a Christian’s life. Moving Toward Spiritual Maturity discusses in detail the challenges one must face, including the sustained, in-depth, and faithful attention to psychological wholeness, conversion to the true self, and interpersonal and social responsibility. Effective strategies are given through example and personal story, making understanding of the principles easier. This reflection on Christian maturity helps readers to focus directly on the personal issues all must face when attuning to the Spirit of Christ. Topics in Moving Toward Spiritual Maturity include: reforming the wayward self moral or guilt-based perfectionism achievement or shame-based perfectionism the two types of conversion responsibility and accountability agape and the loving of oneself three virtues at the heart of the responsible life—integrity, courage, and compassion virtues as habits the relationship between personal fulfillment and the Christian vocation Moving Toward Spiritual Maturity is a unique look at the path toward spiritual maturity, and is challenging, thoughtful reading for laypersons, ministers, priests, and theological students.
