Maura Arena è nata a Cengio (Savona) e vive a Carcare (SV). Nel periodo dell’adolescenza inizia a scrivere poesie, molte delle quali vanno perdute. Conseguito il diploma magistrale, si iscrive al Corso Universitario per Assistente Sociale. Alla morte del padre le ritorna il desiderio di affidare ai versi la sua tristezza, la malinconia, il vuoto derivante dalla grande perdita, i momenti legati all’infanzia e l’amore per la vita. Nel 2005 vince il 1° Premio al Concorso Nazionale Biennale di Poesia “Poeti a Plodio” e a dicembre dello stesso anno pubblica il suo primo libro dal titolo “IL CUORE DELLE COSE”. Nel giugno 2007 segue una Raccolta di Poesie “ALBA DI VITA”. Nell’ agosto 2010 viene inserita in una Pagina della Rivista artistico-culturale BOÈ la Lettera Aperta che il critico letterario Gianni Latronico le dedica dopo aver letto il suo primo libro di poesie. Alcune sue poesie sono state inserite in varie Antologie Italiane. Nel 2012 è entrata a far parte dei Poeti Contemporanei. Al concorso internazionale “Nestore” dell’Associazione NUOVO ARCOBALENO di Savona, viene premiata la sua poesia “Van Gogh”. Da due anni scrive anche filastrocche, che legge insieme ai bimbi, nelle scuole materne della zona. Il tempo libero lo dedica alla lettura, all’arte e al volontariato. La poesia per lei è trasmettere e condividere emozioni e sensazioni, uno scambio di “vissuti e momenti di vita”; è anche lanciare messaggi sui cambiamenti, significativi, del mondo di oggi e di ieri. La Poesia è come un fiore e come dice, il grande Poeta Tagore, “il fiore si nasconde nell’erba ma il vento sparge il suo profumo”.
