Dalam buku Natal dan Paskah: Perayaan Liturgis dalam Dua Lingkaran ini digunakan istilah “lingkaran” untuk Natal dan Paskah untuk memberi gambaran tentang periode yang terdiri atas beberapa tahap masa, dari masa persiapan, masa puncak, dan masa perpanjangannya. Kedua bagian itu diawali penempatan setiap Lingkaran dalam Tahun Liturgi dengan tabel pembabakannya, selanjutnya dipaparkan tentang setiap perayaan liturgi disertai penjelasan sekitar makna setiap perayaan liturgis yang ditilik, entah dari sisi terminologis, historis, ataupun teologis. Disebutkan pula data bacaan dari Leksionarium, ketentuan-ketentuan liturgis yang berlaku, dan unsur-unsur khas yang sering menjadi ciri setiap perayaan, yang dibahas silih berganti. Bagian ketiga (terakhir) menyajikan tulisan-tulisan tambahan tentang beberapa topik seputar praktik perayaan liturgi dalam Lingkaran Natal dan Paskah: aspek spiritual dan pastoral-liturgis. Buku ini patut dijadikan suplemen atau bahkan tuntunan bagi siapa pun yang ingin menambah pengetahuan dan keterampilan ketika hendak menyiapkan perayaan-perayaan di sekitar dua lingkaran itu. Dapat dimanfaatkan pula sebagai suatu panduan praktis bagi para pelaku liturgi selama dua Lingkaran Natal dan Paskah.

Stein studied composition with Leo Sowerby, Frederick Stock (conductor of the Chicago Symphony) and orchestration with Eric DeLamarter, his assistant. He earned M. Mus and Ph.D degrees at DePaul University and was associated with its School of Music as director of the Graduate Division and chairman of the Department of Theory and Composition until his retirement in 1976. He has composed a wide variety of works, including compositions for orchestra, chamber combinations, two operas, and a violin concerto.

Indonesia is the home of the largest single Muslim community of the world. Its Christian community, about 10% of the population, has until now received no overall description in English. Through cooperation of 26 Indonesian and European scholars, Protestants and Catholics, a broad and balanced picture is given of its 24 million Christians. This book sketches the growth of Christianity during the Portuguese period (1511-1605), it presents a fair account of developments under the Dutch colonial administration (1605-1942) and is more elaborate for the period of the Indonesian Republic (since 1945). It emphasizes the regional differences in this huge country, because most Christians live outside the main island of Java. Muslim-Christian relations, as well as the tensions between foreign missionaries and local theology, receive special attention.
