La evocación del pasado no supone siempre la restauración de un mundo añorado, iluminado por una pátina que idealiza o atenúa los recuerdos, ni siquiera garantiza la apropiación de un mundo superado con miras a entender y resignificar nuestro presente. El pasado simplemente nos interpela como individuos y como conjunto porque atraviesa todas las experiencias humanas. Con el propósito de indagar sobre la incidencia de la memoria en diversas manifestaciones literarias y en la vida política, estos artículos examinan textos que mantienen distintos grados de relación con la ficción (novelas, autobiografías, cuentos, relatos testimoniales) e interrogan las experiencias dolorosas de otras épocas que se reeditan en nuevos contextos. Las reflexiones están en todo momento guiadas por las especulaciones teóricas de autores como Walter Benjamin, Andreas Huyssen, Giorgio Agamben, Paul Ricoeur, Hanna Arendt, entre otros que han ido señalando diversos caminos para trabajar las problemáticas en torno a la cuestión de la memoria y su relación con otros fenómenos como el olvido, el secreto, el exilio y la construcción de la subjetividad
