Stunting merupakan suatu kondisi seorang anak yang memiliki panjang badan atau tinggi badan kurang sesuai, apabila dibandingkan dengan usia saat ini. Pendapat lain menyatakan bahwa stunting adalah kondisi tinggi badan seseorang lebih pendek dibanding tinggi badan orang seusia. Kasus stunting merupakan permasalahan global dan tidak hanya terjadi di Indonesia, bahkan internasional. Kondisi stunting merupakan dampak dari kegagalan pertumbuhan (growth faltering) akibat akumulasi ketidakcukupan nutrisi yang berlangsung lama mulai dari kehamilan sampai usia 24 bulan. Apabila stunting dibiarkan, akan dapat menghambat pertumbuhan ekonomi dan menurunkan produktivitas pasar kerja, sehingga mengakibatkan hilangnya 11% GDP (Gross Domestic Products) serta mengurangi pendapatan pekerja dewasa hingga 20%. Sehingga upaya pencegahan stunting secara dini harus dilakukan supaya wanita usia subur yang akan mempersiapkan kehamilan sehingga 1000 Hari Pertama Kehidupan (HPK) anak berhasil dipersiapkan dengan baik. Dengan memahami tentang pencegahan stunting, diharapkan tercipta generasi emas dan zero stunting di Indonesia.
