Penurunan keanekaragaman hayati umumnya disebabkan oleh adanya degradasi sumberdaya hayati dan kurangnya upaya konservasi. Penulis mencoba menyusun buku ini dengan berbagai bidang kajian ilmu meliputi taksonomi, flora, fauna, fisiologi tumbuhan, antropologi, sosial-budaya, geologi lingkungan, etnobiologi dan ilmu lingkungan yang selanjutnya dapat digunakan untuk dasar dalam merumuskan kebijakan. Bagi pembaca buku ini diharapkan dapat memberi pemahaman terhadap aspek evolusi kehidupan masyarakat yang berkaitan dengan sumberdaya air, pemanfaatan keanekaragaman flora, fauna dan lingkungan. Tulisan ini diharapkan dapat membantu memecahkan persoalan di lingkungan sumber mata air.
