Angka Kematian Ibu (AKI) merupakan salah satu indikator untuk melihat derajat kesehatan perempuan. Penyebab kematian ibu terbesar di Indonesia di antaranya karena hipertensi dalam kehamilan. Penyakit ini menyebabkan angka mortalitas dan morbiditas yang tinggi, sehingga merupakan masalah kesehatan pada masyarakat. Hipertensi pada kehamilan dapat berakibat buruk bagi ibu dan janinnya. Dampak pada ibu yaitu solusio plasenta, koagulasi intravascular diseminata, perdarahan otak, gagal ginjal, gagal ginjal akut dan pada janin yaitu IUGR, prematuritas, kematian janin dalam rahim. Penanganan dengan terapi farmakologis dan nonfarmakologi, salah satunya dengan konsumsi pisang. Pisang mempunyai kandungan kalium yang tinggi dapat membantu mengurangi dan menurunkan tekanan darah. Kandungan kalium pada pisang kepok dapat melebarkan pembuluh darah dan menghambat sekresi rennin. Selain itu, kalium juga diperlukan untuk menormalkan irama jantung dan membantu peredaran oksigen ke otak. Buku ini membahas tentang hipertensi pada kehamilan dan upaya untuk mengendalikan tekanan darah dengan mengkonsumsi pisang kepok kuning melalui penelitian dengan judul “Pengaruh Konsumsi Pisang terhadap Pengendalian Tekanan Darah Ibu Hamil dengan Hipertensi tahun 2020”, dipaparkan hasil penelitian terkait tentang pengaruh pisang terhadap hipertensi. Harapannya, dengan konsumsi pisang kepok kuning sebagai terapi nonfarmakologis dalam mengendalikan tekanan darah dengan hipertensi.
