Excerpt from Mental Conflicts and Misconduct The great value of understanding the foundations of conduct is clearly shown by such living facts as are gathered together in this volume. Bearing upon one type of causation of misconduct, we have here not only a rational psychological theory, but also abundant concrete material. An important field is opened before us, especially interesting because of the revelation (a) of potent subconscious mental mechanisms working according to definite laws of mental life, and (b) of types of hidden early experiences which definitely evoke these mental processes that are forerunners of misconduct. Troublesome behavior, originating in the experiences and mechanisms here under discussion, ranges widely from mere faults of social attitude to severe delinquency and crime dependent upon uncontrolled anti-social motivation or impulse. Cases having this causation occur so frequently that specific knowledge of their nature should be part of the equipment of all who have to pass judgment or to advise concerning misdoing and misdoers. Much reliance has always been placed upon the idea that admonition and punishment is an effectual way of meeting undesirable conduct. The Psychology Of Misconduct Vice And Crime Psychology Revivals written by Bernard Hollander and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-10-14 with Psychology categories.

Born in Vienna in 1864, Bernard Hollander was a London-based psychiatrist. He is best known for being one of the main proponents of phrenology. This title, originally published in 1922 contains the reflections of the author on his experience as a physician specialising in nervous and mental disorders. He looks at a range of patients "suffering from character defects leading to moral failings..." finding that these cases of "moral derangement" come in all kinds. Very much of its time, he suggests that treating the causes should be with both physical and mental measures, including psychotherapy, which at the time consisted of "persuasion, suggestion, auto-suggestion, hypnotism, psychological analysis, as well as re-education." A fascinating glimpse into psychology from the early twentieth century.

Justice Conflict And Wellbeing written by Brian H. Bornstein and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-08-12 with Psychology categories.

Justice, conflict and wellbeing are large topics that occupy researchers from a variety of disciplines, as well as laypeople and policy makers. The three concepts are closely connected: conflict often (though not always) impairs wellbeing, whereas justice often (though not always) enhances it; perceived injustice is a common source of conflict, at multiple levels and calls for justice are a common response to conflict. In addition, each construct has subtypes, such as distributive and procedural justice, individual and group conflict and physical and psychological wellbeing. Although there are established traditions of research on the topics in multiple disciplines, there is little cross-fertilization across disciplines. This volume brings together researchers from social, clinical and educational psychology; law and political science. The unifying theme is how injustice and conflict pose threats to wellbeing, at the micro (individual) and macro (groups and societies) levels. Multi- and interdisciplinary research are at the vanguard of science in the twenty-first century and the present work applies multi and interdisciplinary perspectives to the important real-world topics of justice, conflict and wellbeing.
