Seminar paper from the year 2015 in the subject Leadership and Human Resource Management - Management Styles, grade: 1,0, University of Frankfurt (Main), language: English, abstract: The history of leadership research and leadership theory goes far back into the past. Ever since people have lived together in groups, there have been leaders and those who are led. The many different leadership styles have also been discussed and criticized since the 1950s. The question arises which style is the most efficient or the "right" style for leading people. For a company it is of great importance with which behavior their managers can influence or motivate the employees to the best possible performance and thus achieve the company's goals. Empirical studies show that the leadership style has a great influence on the work and well-being of leaders and employees and thus also on the economic success of the company. However, there is no one optimal leadership style as several studies and publications have already proven. Each of the styles can achieve both positive and negative results, depending on the situation and the individual employee. The leadership styles should be adapted according to the situation. In this paper, after defining the terms leadership and leadership style, on the one hand the classical leadership styles and on the other hand the transactional and the transformational leadership styles are explained and compared. Possible advantages and disadvantages as well as their influence on employee motivation, willingness to perform and leadership success will be shown. In addition, results of current studies will provide an insight into the state of research. Finally, the most important points are summarized and a concluding conclusion is drawn on the basis of the knowledge gained.

Workfare States written by Jamie Peck and has been published by Guilford Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-02-13 with Political Science categories.

This book examines the political economy of workfare, the umbrella term for welfare-to-work initiatives that have been steadily gaining ground since candidate Bill Clinton's 1992 promise to "end welfare as we know it." Peck traces the development, diffusion, and implementation of workfare policies in the United States, and their export to Canada and the United Kingdom. He explores how reforms have been shaped by labor markets and political conditions, how gender and race come into play, and how local programs fit into the broader context of neoliberal economics and globalization. The book cogently demonstrates that workfare rarely involves large-scale job creation, but is more concerned with deterring welfare claims and necessitating the acceptance of low-paying, unstable jobs. Integrating labor market theory, critical policy analysis, and extensive field research, Peck exposes the limitations of workfare policies and points toward more equitable alternatives.

This book challenges the underlying presupposition that regular employment is the royal road to inclusion. Drawing on original empirical research, it investigates the inclusionary and exclusionary potentials of different types of work, including activation programmes. Active social policies in the EU makes an important contribution to the debates in this area by: reporting on original international comparative research; reflecting on and critically assessing current activating policies; evaluating the consequences of these policies, as well as challenging the premises they are based on; including the perspectives of service users in its analyses; offering recommendations for the future design of activating policies. The book will be invaluable for students, lecturers and researchers of social and labour market policies and policy makers. It is essential reading for those interested in issues of inclusion, activation and the role of types of work in promoting inclusion.
