The Mississippi Cookbook was prepared in an attempt to collect, make available, and thus preserve the favorite recipes of fine cooks throughout Mississippi. Over 7,000 recipes were collected from all areas of the state. From this total, the home economists of the state Cooperative Extension Service had the painfully difficult task of screening the amount down to the 1,200 best recipes. The names of the individuals who submitted follow each recipe and, in some cases, historical data about the dish is included. A special section includes favorite recipes of the wives of former governors. The appendices feature tables and charts that provide such valuable technical information as substitutions and equivalents, measuring ingredients, time and temperature guides, definitions, and servings. This comprehensive collection of Mississippi's most popular recipes records the state's culinary heritage and its mastery of home cooking.

Celebrate the gorgeous and delicious possibilities of plant-based Southern cuisine. Inspired by the landscape and flavors of his childhood on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Timothy Pakron found his heart, soul, and calling in cooking the Cajun, Creole, and southern classics of his youth. In his debut cookbook, he shares 125 plant-based recipes, all of which substitute ingredients without sacrificing depth of flavor and reveal the secret tradition of veganism in southern cooking. Finding ways to re-create his experiences growing up in the South--making mud pies and admiring the deep pink azaleas--on the plate, Pakron looks to history and nature as his guides to creating the richest food possible. Filled with as many evocative photographs and stories as easy-to-follow recipes, Mississippi Vegan is an ode to the transporting and ethereal beauty of the food and places you love.

I am very much interested in the rising popularity of the so-called exotic cuisines. The curiosity of the Americans was really something worth supporting as they search outside the country for inspiration and sustenance. Travelling the world has been an awesome experience, trying new dishes and gathering ideas, and taking all these back home to try in my own kitchen. Then a newfound passion for local American food has occurred to me soon after I finished writing the American cookbook series. I was in the Pacific Northwest starting my book tour when I felt a spark burning inside me. I don't know if it was the perfectly grilled Copper River salmon (season's first), paired with a flowery and fruity Oregon Pinot Noir had to do with it. Or maybe the colorful Pacific oysters in Seattle's Pike Place market. Or it could be at Seattle's Dahlia Lounge where it's my first experience ever to sample a Kasu cod that has been caramelized. It's hard to know what it is, but that inspired me to write a U.S. cookbook. For more different types of American recipes, you can also see: Cajun And Creole Recipes Jewish Recipes Us Recipes By State Mud Pie Recipe Mississippi Cookbook Southern Pie Cookbook Sweet Potato Pie Cookbook Pie Crust Recipes Pie Crust Cookbook Tomato Pie Recipe ... ✩ Purchase the Print Edition & RECEIVE a digital copy FREE via Kindle MatchBook ✩Thank you for your support and for choosing "Hello! 69 Mississippi Recipes: Best Mississippi Cookbook Ever For Beginners". Discover the diverse food and culinary traditions from the ten states that border America’s most important river--and the heart of American cuisine--with 200 contemporary recipes for 30 meals and celebrations, and more than 150 stunning photographs. Starting at the river’s source in Minnesota, renowned chef/restaurateur Regina Charboneau introduces readers to a Native American wild rice harvest dinner, a Scandinavian summer’s end crayfish party, and a Hmong Southeast Asian New Year’s Eve buffet. Next the book moves to the river’s middle region, from Hannibal to New Madrid, featuring a dinner to honor the man most associated with the Mississippi--Mark Twain. Recipes are supplied for imaginative menus for such occasions as a St. Louis Italian spread featuring the city’s famous toasted ravioli, a farmer’s market lunch, and an Arkansas farm supper influenced by the vast farmlands on both sides of the Mississippi. The lower region, from Beale Street to the Bayous of the Gulf of Mexico, gives an insight into the author’s river roots in Natchez. Included are biscuits, shrimp, smoked tomatoes over creamy grits, a New Orleans-style Reveillon dinner, and a blessing of the fleet dinner inspired by the Vietnamese fisherman who shrimp at the mouth of the river. Scattered throughout are intriguing sidebars on such topics as how the paddlewheel steamboat came to ply the waters of the Mississippi, the traditional canoe method of harvesting Minnesota wild rice, and the 3,000 mile River Road lining the waterway. Throughout are stunning photographs of local scenery, dishes, and ingredients taken by renowned photographer Ben Fink on the magnificent American Queen riverboat and at farms, historic homes, and towns along the length of the river.
