L’idea del “Seminario del giovedì santo” è venuta dallla volontà di ricordare il ventennale della morte di Sergio Quinzio. Massimo Iiritano aveva scritto su di lui a dieci anni dalla morte, nel 2006, Teologia dell’ora nona, che recensii con piacere. Quinzio scriveva su “Il Mattino” riflessioni settimanali di religione, lette da molti perché erano sempre speciali. Il problema frequente nelle note e nelle sue opere è la teodicea, il problema del male nel mondo, la domanda di Giobbe – ad essa in qualche modo partecipa, nell’ora nona, lo stesso Gesù Cristo, quando si sente abbandonato. Parlare del ‘sacro’ oggi ha molte diverse direzioni, la folla, le immagini, le radure del sacro sono illustrate dall’antropologia che le pone nei luoghi delle danze rituali e delle liturgie di ogni tipo. L’arte non inventa in questo campo novità sconvolgenti – a meno di non considerare Von Hagen e le plastinazioni di cadaveri. Il mondo occidentale di oggi sembra prendere informazioni, sul male, sul sacro, con molta cortesia. Assistere alla follia religiosa non scuote nessuno, anche quando mostra il suo sangue e la sua ira. Il terrorismo sembra come un terremoto. La filosofia nella sua diversità multiforme pare abbia creato un mondo di spettatori della vita, stupiti dalle passioni del mondo, come fossero sul monte Athos. Il seminario perciò apre il tavolo su questa nuova trascendenza, che cerca argomenti fuori dei problemi del mondo. Discutere le dimensioni del sacro del ‘900 con i competenti, a partire da Sergio Quinzio, autore così appassionato da dedicare all’importanza del tema la riflessione di tutta una vita, significa tentare di aprire la porta di questa cattedrale del pensiero. Quanto sia grande questo pensare, s’intende anche da questa breve, intensa discussione.

Il volume segue percorsi di ricerca solo recentemente aperti dagli studi pirandelliani, sviluppandosi intorno ai grandi temi legati al rapporto di questo autore con la Germania, la cui conoscenza si presentava fino a questo momento ancora lacunosa. Una particolare attenzione è dedicata alla ricostruzione topografica ed alla documentazione relativa ai soggiorni di Pirandello a Berlino.
