Sie hat zum Ziel, Menschen in ihrem Glauben selbstbewusst und mündig zu machen, und spricht ihnen zu, Gott in sich selbst und ihrem Umfeld zu entdecken, ohne dass dazu die Vermittlung durch einen "professionellen Stellvertreter" oder bestimmte vorgegebene Rituale notwendig wären. Um dies deutlich werden zu lassen, benennt und erklärt der Autor Johannes Schleicher zunächst ausgehend von der Bibel einige mystische Grundaussagen. Im zweiten Schritt vertieft er diese am Beispiel einiger wichtiger Mystiker und ihrer zentralen Gedanken. Eine faszinierende Einführung in das Thema Mystik und eine spannende Idee für eine Kirchenerneuerung "von unten".

New Directions in Biblical Theology contains the papers of an international conference on Biblical Theology which was organized by the Faculty of Theology of Aarhus University on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
