USE THE ACTOR MODEL TO BUILD SIMPLER SYSTEMS WITH BETTER PERFORMANCE AND SCALABILITY Enterprise software development has been much more difficult and failure-prone than it needs to be. Now, veteran software engineer and author Vaughn Vernon offers an easier and more rewarding method to succeeding with Actor model. Reactive Messaging Patterns with the Actor Model shows how the reactive enterprise approach, Actor model, Scala, and Akka can help you overcome previous limits of performance and scalability, and skillfully address even the most challenging non-functional requirements. Reflecting his own cutting-edge work, Vernon shows architects and developers how to translate the longtime promises of Actor model into practical reality. First, he introduces the tenets of reactive software, and shows how the message-driven Actor model addresses all of them–making it possible to build systems that are more responsive, resilient, and elastic. Next, he presents a practical Scala bootstrap tutorial, a thorough introduction to Akka and Akka Cluster, and a full chapter on maximizing performance and scalability with Scala and Akka. Building on this foundation, you’ll learn to apply enterprise application and integration patterns to establish message channels and endpoints; efficiently construct, route, and transform messages; and build robust systems that are simpler and far more successful. Coverage Includes How reactive architecture replaces complexity with simplicity throughout the core, middle, and edges The characteristics of actors and actor systems, and how Akka makes them more powerful Building systems that perform at scale on one or many computing nodes Establishing channel mechanisms, and choosing appropriate channels for each application and integration challenge Constructing messages to clearly convey a sender’s intent in communicating with a receiver Implementing a Process Manager for your Domain-Driven Designs Decoupling a message’s source and destination, and integrating appropriate business logic into its router Understanding the transformations a message may experience in applications and integrations Implementing persistent actors using Event Sourcing and reactive views using CQRS Find unique online training on Domain-Driven Design, Scala, Akka, and other software craftsmanship topics using the for{comprehension} website at forcomprehension.com.

Discrete Event Modeling And Simulation written by Gabriel A. Wainer and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-12-19 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Complex artificial dynamic systems require advanced modeling techniques that can accommodate their asynchronous, concurrent, and highly non-linear nature. Discrete Event systems Specification (DEVS) provides a formal framework for hierarchical construction of discrete-event models in a modular manner, allowing for model re-use and reduced development time. Discrete Event Modeling and Simulation presents a practical approach focused on the creation of discrete-event applications. The book introduces the CD++ tool, an open-source framework that enables the simulation of discrete-event models. After setting up the basic theory of DEVS and Cell-DEVS, the author focuses on how to use the CD++ tool to define a variety of models in biology, physics, chemistry, and artificial systems. They also demonstrate how to map different modeling techniques, such as Finite State Machines and VHDL, to DEVS. The in-depth coverage elaborates on the creation of simulation software for DEVS models and the 3D visualization environments associated with these tools. A much-needed practical approach to creating discrete-event applications, this book offers world-class instruction on the field’s most useful modeling tools.

Artificial Intelligence Planning Systems documents the proceedings of the First International Conference on AI Planning Systems held in College Park, Maryland on June 15-17, 1992. This book discusses the abstract probabilistic modeling of action; building symbolic primitives with continuous control routines; and systematic adaptation for case-based planning. The analysis of ABSTRIPS; conditional nonlinear planning; and building plans to monitor and exploit open-loop and closed-loop dynamics are also elaborated. This text likewise covers the modular utility representation for decision-theoretic planning; reaction and reflection in tetris; and planning in intelligent sensor fusion. Other topics include the resource-bounded adaptive agent, critical look at Knoblock's hierarchy mechanism, and traffic laws for mobile robots. This publication is beneficial to students and researchers conducting work on AI planning systems.

The Architectural Models Of Theodore Conrad written by Teresa Fankhänel and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-06-17 with Architecture categories.
Based on the recent discovery of his fully-preserved private archive-models, photos, letters, business files, and drawings-this book tells the story of Theodore Conrad (1910-1994), the most prominent and prolific architectural model-maker of the 20th century. Conrad's innovative models were instrumental in the design and realization of many icons of American Modernism-from the Rockefeller Center to Lever House and the Seagram Building. He revolutionized the production of architectural models and became a model-making entrepreneur in his own right. Yet, despite his success and the well-known buildings he helped to create, until now little has been known about Conrad's work and his impact on 20th century architectural history. With exclusive access to Conrad's archive, as well as that of model photographer Louis Checkman-both of which have lain undiscovered in private storage for decades-this book examines Conrad's work and legacy, accompanied by case studies of his major commissions and full-color photographs of his works. Set against the backdrop of the surge in model-making in the 1950s and 1960s-which Jane Jacobs called “The Miniature Boom”-it explores how Conrad's models prompt broader scholarly questions about the nature of authorship in architecture, the importance of craftsmanship, and about the translation of architectural ideas between different media. The book ultimately presents an alternative history of American modern architecture, highlighting the often-overlooked influence of architectural models and their makers.
