This thesis describes the development of a methodology to model theater-level mobility engineering assets in the Joint Staff's Joint Warfare Analysis Experimental Prototype (JWAEP) and to quantify the joint and Army doctrine that guides the task organization of engineers for combat and which quantifies engineer mobility effects in combat. The methodology incorporates theater-level mobility engineering assets into the JWAEP by using Mission, Enemy,Troops available, Terrain, and Time (MET-T principles which reflect joint and Army doctrine, and combines them with the existing basic concepts in other theater-level models. Additional aspects of the problem include determining the manmade and natural obstacles' delay and attrition effects, determining the obstacle intelligence acquisition procedures, identifying solution techniques, verifying the results, and making recommendations.

Engineering Principles Of Combat Modeling And Distributed Simulation written by Andreas Tolk and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-03-20 with Mathematics categories.

Explore the military and combat applications of modeling and simulation Engineering Principles of Combat Modeling and Distributed Simulation is the first book of its kind to address the three perspectives that simulation engineers must master for successful military and defense related modeling: the operational view (what needs to be modeled); the conceptual view (how to do combat modeling); and the technical view (how to conduct distributed simulation). Through methods from the fields of operations research, computer science, and engineering, readers are guided through the history, current training practices, and modern methodology related to combat modeling and distributed simulation systems. Comprised of contributions from leading international researchers and practitioners, this book provides a comprehensive overview of the engineering principles and state-of-the-art methods needed to address the many facets of combat modeling and distributed simulation and features the following four sections: Foundations introduces relevant topics and recommended practices, providing the needed basis for understanding the challenges associated with combat modeling and distributed simulation. Combat Modeling focuses on the challenges in human, social, cultural, and behavioral modeling such as the core processes of "move, shoot, look, and communicate" within a synthetic environment and also equips readers with the knowledge to fully understand the related concepts and limitations. Distributed Simulation introduces the main challenges of advanced distributed simulation, outlines the basics of validation and verification, and exhibits how these systems can support the operational environment of the warfighter. Advanced Topics highlights new and developing special topic areas, including mathematical applications fo combat modeling; combat modeling with high-level architecture and base object models; and virtual and interactive digital worlds. Featuring practical examples and applications relevant to industrial and government audiences, Engineering Principles of Combat Modeling and Distributed Simulation is an excellent resource for researchers and practitioners in the fields of operations research, military modeling, simulation, and computer science. Extensively classroom tested, the book is also ideal for courses on modeling and simulation; systems engineering; and combat modeling at the graduate level.

Modeling Obstacles And Engineer Forces In Stochastic Joint Theater Models written by Joseph E. Whitlock and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with categories.

This study proposes a methodology for modeling obstacles and combat engineer forces in a stochastic joint theater level model. The Joint Warfare Analysis Experimental Prototype (JWAEP) model serves as the host model for implementing this methodology. The methods presented in this research allow for the representation of combat engineer units and obstacles at the low level of resolution appropriate for a theater level model. Essential tasks in the engineer functional area of countermobility are modeled using engineer unit structures. An obstacle complex structure is presented and used to represent aggregations of tactical obstacles similar to the obstacle zone and belt operational control measures used in US Army doctrine. This research also describes the attrition and delay algorithms for unit encounters with an obstacle complex and explains when this explicit attrition and delay are used. (AN).

Rand S Concept Analysis Environment written by E. C. Gritton and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1990 with Military art and science categories.

A primary mission of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is the development of innovative system concepts for improving the effectiveness of U.S. military forces. To assist DARPA in this effort, RAND has established the Concept Analysis Environment (CAE), a secure set of systems for the analysis, exploration, and evaluation of advanced military concepts. This secure framework incorporates simulation models for determining the effectiveness of advanced military system concepts in simulated battlefield environments. The authors describe the system's current and prospective simulation models and their use in two projects: the tactical armor/anti-armor study and the joint close support study. The CAE is expected to make a significant contribution to the three stages of developing innovative system concepts: initial conceptualization, identification of desirable system characteristics, and determination of probable military effectiveness.
