Based on the philosophy of nature, the book develops a new understanding of the physical world and shows the logical contradictions of modern physics. The relationship between the observer and the object of observation is discussed in a dialogue with nature. The ideas behind the physical theories that led to the priest Lemaître's Big Bang hypothesis and their logical errors are explained. Although the big bang was refuted by the practical results of space travel in the second half of the 20th century, the astrophysicists hold fast to the mechanistic world view and stubbornly deny the electrodynamics of the cosmos. Has modern physics really become a maid of theology in the embrace of the Catholic Church, as Pope Pius X. demanded in his encyclical of 1907 against modernity? On the basis of the physical measurement system, the basics of physics are explained and the relationship between measurement and the object to be measured is considered. The cause of the force between the positive and negative charge of proton and electron is seen in an open system that is far from the thermodynamic equilibrium. This perspective allows the structure, maintenance and destruction of a structure to be explained using entropy. The structure of the cosmos can then be understood as an electrical network based on Maxwell's equations from the atom to the largest cosmic structures. In this way, electrodynamics and optics, as well as plasma physics, become the basis of this new intergalactic world view. Such a view of the world can already explain many of the phenomena discovered from space travel, which seem extremely puzzling to the conventional mechanical-gravitational world view of astrophysicists and by means of a number of exotic constructs such as black holes and neutron stars, dark matter, antimatter and dark energy be explained by them. The book is based on over two hundred mostly primary sources of literature. It requires an open mind and a basic knowledge of mathematics and classical physics, as high schools should convey.

The restoration of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences served to reconcile science with faith. In other words, physics should be made subservient to faith. The spiritual shepherd nourishes his sheep using paradoxes. For example, the immaculate conception served for centuries. But this belief isn't time relevant anymore. Better is a beliefe based on mathematics. Modern physics is characterized by a number of paradoxes that can be traced back to the incorrect use of mathematical means of expression in a closed system. Now, out of concern for the common house, Pope Francis has released the connection to a closed theory with the groundbreaking sentence: "In this universe made up of open systems that communicate with one another, we can discover innumerable forms of relationship and participation." Now we are any more looking relativistically at the cosmos as a symmetric blown up ball. We are going back to a real view of an energy dissipative world. Read how we build on the successes of physics in the 19th century and apply the ideas of Iljy Prigogine on the thermodynamics of open systems to dynamic vortex structures in an open cosmos. Mechanics, thermodynamics and electrodynamics merge with Maxwell's and Stokes' equations to form a unit and the paradoxes disappear wonderfully and we now recognize that a projection of a real vortex filament into a plane gave rise to the idea of an abstract quantum mechanical wave function. This gives us simple physics from the macrocosm to the microcosm, free of contradictions, and we learn how nuclear fusion really works. This opens up a clean, CO2-free, effective energy source for us in the future. The book assumes a basic mathematical and scientific understanding, as it should be conveyed in high schools, but complicated mathematical derivations are largely dispensed with. After "Modern Astrophysics meets Engineering", it is the author's second book.

Beginning with Hamiltonian dynamics, Modern Astrodynamics blends the modern methods of dynamical systems theory with the perturbation theory methods of the last century. With an emphasis on earth satellite motion, the derivation of the geopotential expansion is covered, and the motion of an object under the influence of the Earth's equatorial oblateness is derived to the first order. The structure of the phase space of Hamiltonian systems is explored both with modern numerical techniques (the surface of section) periodic orbit theory, and nonlinear resonance methods. The text concludes with applications of these modern methods to the problem of the relative motion of satellites in orbit about the earth, and the application of KAM tori to earth satellite motion. The text is suitable for a semester course at the introductory graduate level. Topics covered include: (1) Modern Numerical Methods, (2) Transformation Theory, (3) Variation of Elements, (4) Perturbing Forces, (5) General Perturbations, (6) Nonlinear Resonance, (7) Relative Satellite Motion, and (8) KAM Tori.

At the opening of the "Third Meeting on Celestial Mechanics - CELMEC III", strong sensations hit our minds. The conference (18-22 June 2001) was being held in Villa Mondragone, a beautiful complex of buildings and gardens located within the township of Monte Porzio Catone, on the hills surrounding Rome. A former papal residence, the building has been recently restored by the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" to host academic activities and events. The conference room is called "Salone degli Svizzeri": here, Gregory XIII, on February 24, 1582, gave its sanction to the reform of the Julian calendar and declared officially in use the calendar still adopted nowadays. The magnificent high walls and tall ceiling strongly resounded, giving to our voice a peculiar Vatican sound, which took us by surprise. May be - we thought - a distant echo of the very words of Gregory XIII proclaiming the modem calendar was still haunting the room. Around us, in the audience, many countries were represented, thus indicating that the idea of putting together the three "souls" of modem Celestial Mechanics - perturbation theories, solar and stellar system studies, spaceflight dynamic- had been successful. CELMEC III is in fact the latest of a series of meetings (the first two editions took place in 1993 and 1997 in L' Aquila, Italy) whose aim is to establish a common ground among people working in Celestial Mechanics, yet belonging to different institutions such as universities, astronomical observatories, research institutes, space agencies and industries.
