Das hört man immer wieder. Der Ruf nach Werteerziehung äußert sich auch in der Einführung von unterschiedlich benannten Fächern in der Schule: Religion, Religionsunterricht für alle, Ethik, Lebenskunde, LER (Lebensgestaltung/Ethik/Religion), Ethik, Philosophie, Praktische Philosophie. Allein die Bezeichnungen weisen schon auf sehr große begriffliche Unterschiede und Unheitlichkeiten hin. Noch schwieriger wird die Differenzierung wenn, von mangelnder Moral und einem – oben bereits genannten – Ruf nach Werten gesprochen wird. Diese pädagogische Herausforderung ist jedoch keine leichte, da in diesem Zusammenhang eine Menge verschiedener Bezeichnungen benutzt werden. Wie könnte diese Herausforderung also bewältigt werden? Lassen sich Begriffe wie Moral, Werte, Normen, Ethik usw. in ein System bringen? Bevor weitere Äußerungen zu der Forderung nach moralischer Erziehung getroffen werden, wird diese Frage der Systematisierung in Kapitel 2 beantwortet. Hierzu werden drei Ebenen eingeführt und erläutert, die zu einer besseren Orientierung verhelfen sollen. Diese Ebenen werden an Hand von Grundfragen der Ethik veranschaulicht. Anschließend werden zwei Konzeptionen im Kontext der moralischen Erziehung (unter Berücksichtigung zweier grundlegender Prinzipien dargestellt) und nach ihrer Verortung innerhalb des zuvor beschriebenen Ebenensystems hin untersucht. Die im Kapitel 3 behandelte erste Konzeption ist die von Immanuel Kant, da er mit seiner Moralphilosophie die Grundlage für viele fruchtbringende Diskussionen auf diesem Gebiet legte. Er versuchte mit seinem Ansatz die Frage „Was soll ich tun?“ zu beantworten. Seine äußerst bekannte Antwort darauf ist der kategorische Imperativ. In Kapitel 4 werden als zweiter Ansatz die Gedanken von Judith Butler dargestellt. Es sollen dabei die Parallelen und die unterschiedlichen Vorstellungen zu Kant herausgearbeitet werden. Dabei wird zugleich eine Verschiebung der Herangehensweise im Vergleich zu Kant ausgemacht. Bei der Darstellung dieser beiden Konzeptionen ist es das Anliegen des Autors, vor Allem auf den Aspekt der (Selbst-)Transparenz zu achten. Wo diese Fähigkeit zur Selbsteinsicht notwendig ist, wer sie – möglicherweise unhinterfragt – voraussetzt, und welche Bedingungen zur Möglichkeit von Transparenz erforderlich sind. Oder ob die Transparenz in dem – eventuell – geforderten oder beschriebenen Umfang überhaupt verwirklich- und realisierbar ist.

Der Anerkennungsbegriff ist heute zum Schlüsselbegriff der Ethik geworden und hat als ein solcher zunehmend auch im sozial- und erziehungswissenschaftlichen Diskurs an Bedeutung gewonnen. Dabei gilt Anerkennung vielfach als normative Richtschnur, mit der sich (pädagogische) Beziehungen und Praxen bewerten lassen. Vor diesem Hintergrund unternimmt die Arbeit eine Spurensuche zur Anerkennungskategorie. Mittels Rekonstruktion verschiedener Anerkennungskonzepte werden Bedeutungsgehalte und Dimensionen der ‚Anerkennung’ herausgearbeitet und auf sozial- und erziehungswissenschaftliche Problemstellungen bezogen. Die Studien loten die Reichweite jeweiliger Anerkennungsverständnisse aus und entfalten im Rückgriff auf macht- und alteritätstheoretische Positionen ein analytisch justiertes Verständnis von Anerkennung, mit dem zugleich neue Perspektiven auf den ethischen wie den pädagogischen Gehalt der Anerkennungskategorie eröffnet werden.

This volume argues for the need of a common ground that bridges leadership studies, curriculum theory, and Didaktik. It proposes a non-affirmative education theory and its core concepts along with discursive institutionalism as an analytical tool to bridge these fields. It concludes with implications of its coherent theoretical framing for future empirical research.Recent neoliberal policies and transnational governance practices point toward new tensions in nation state education. These challenges affect governance, leadership and curriculum, involving changes in aims and values that demand coherence. Yet, the traditionally disparate fields of educational leadership, curriculum theory and Didaktik have developed separately, both in terms of approaches to theory and theorizing in USA, Europe and Asia, and in the ways in which these theoretical traditions have informed empirical studies over time. An additional aspect is that modern education theory was developed in relation to nation state education, which, in the meantime, has become more complicated due to issues of 'globopolitanism'. This volume examines the current state of affairs and addresses the issues involved. In doing so, it opens up a space for a renewed and thoughtful dialogue to rethink and re-theorize these traditions with non-affirmative education theory moving beyond social reproduction and social transformation perspectives. Gender- and sex-related norms have an impact on us from the first to the last day of our lives. What are the effects of such norms on the education of children and adolescents? Conveyed via parents/family, school, and peers, they seem to be an inseparable part of human relations. After its favorable reception in German-speaking countries from 2014 onwards, this title is now available in English. The texts show that the traditional assumption of a dualistic, bipolar normativity of sex and gender leads to children being taught gender-typical behavior. The contributions in this volume explore the reasons for these practices and open the debate on the divergence between the prevailing norms and the plurality of different life plans. In addition, the book helps to disengage the topic of sex and gender from a hitherto narrowly circumscribed context of sexual orientation. The contributions point the way towards a culture of respect and mutual acceptance and show new methodological as well as theoretical approaches, e.g. by introducing the figure of the continuum, so that, in future research projects, more than just the two sexes and genders of female and male might be considered as a new normality.
