Perbedaan ketinggian tempat akan memiliki perbedaan morfologi baik secara fisika, kimia, maupun biologi. Pemahaman morfologi tanah dalam konsep ilmu tanah sangat beragam karena jenis tanah dari suatu tempat ke tempat lainnya berbeda-beda. Harapannya, dengan adanya pengetahuan morfologi tanah ini dapat mengetahui kemampuan tanah dalam mendukung pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman yang diusahakan.
