Beginning in Paris in the 1920s, women poets, essayists, painters, and artists in other media have actively collaborated in defining and refining surrealism's basic project—achieving a higher, open, and dynamic consciousness, from which no aspect of the real or the imaginary is rejected. Indeed, few artistic or social movements can boast as many women forebears, founders, and participants—perhaps only feminism itself. Yet outside the movement, women's contributions to surrealism have been largely ignored or simply unknown. This anthology, the first of its kind in any language, displays the range and significance of women's contributions to surrealism. Letting surrealist women speak for themselves, Penelope Rosemont has assembled nearly three hundred texts by ninety-six women from twenty-eight countries. She opens the book with a succinct summary of surrealism's basic aims and principles, followed by a discussion of the place of gender in the movement's origins. She then organizes the book into historical periods ranging from the 1920s to the present, with introductions that describe trends in the movement during each period. Rosemont also prefaces each surrealist's work with a brief biographical statement.

En este libro el navegante santanderino, autor de otros relatos de navegación con su pequeño velero de seis metros, nos cuenta la vuelta a Italia que dieron en 2021. Bueno, en realidad quien lo cuenta es el barquito, pues está redactado en primera persona por el "Corto Maltés" tal y como vivió la circunnavegación de Italia desde el agua. Era el segundo año de la pandemia por Covid-19, los países europeos empezaban a abrirse tras el confinamiento, y la principal duda era precisamente si la pandemia les permitiría finalizar la navegación o les dejaría retenidos por el camino. Pese a la gran incertidumbre soltaron amarras a primeros de junio, para regresar a finales de septiembre con su objetivo cumplido. Fueron a La Nouvelle en un camión, desde allí contornearon toda la costa mediterránea de Francia, la península italiana hasta Venecia, y allí se introdujeron en el continente por el río Po para cerrar la vuelta a Italia en Mantova. 2.290 millas, 18 islas y 4 ríos son el balance de esa circunnavegación, contada con la naturalidad de quien el mar ha hecho humilde y se quita importancia, para transmitir a los propietarios de veleros pequeños que pueden hacer grandes navegaciones con sus barcos, e ir a sitios preciosos donde los grandes no pueden acceder. Para ser sincero con el lector, en este caso la duración del viaje, y la incómoda meteorología del Adriático, le hicieron en algunos momentos rozar el hartazgo, lo que explica que haya utilizado como título la famosa frase de los niños cuando se cansan en un viaje: "¿Cuándo llegamos?". Como en otros libros, el autor ha incluido algunas dibucartas, textos que se convierten en un dibujo, así como fotos aéreas y las coordenadas de los puertos visitados para poder seguir las etapas en un navegador y facilitar el viaje a quien intente repetirlo. Los textos reunidos en este libro son algunos de los resultados generados por un seminario-taller de lectura de obras del filósofo francés Gilles Deleuze durante el año 2013 en la Biblioteca Leopoldo Marechal de la Universidad Nacional de La Matanza, en el cual participaron personas de distintas procedencias y formaciones (estudiantes de distintas carreras, docentes de diversas disciplinas, empleados administrativos, profesionales, técnicos, etc.). Los participantes manifestaron que la lectura y discusión de los textos les había permitido pensar la realidad de otra manera, plantearse problemas nuevos, responder a preguntas que se habían formulado en otros contextos y aplicar los conceptos al ámbito específico de su formación o profesión. Destacamos estas evaluaciones porque echan por tierra algunos prejuicios arraigados respecto a la filosofía y al pensamiento en general, y porque esperamos obtener resultados análogos de la lectura de los trabajos presentados en este volumen.
