All’inizio è stata una questione di sopravvivenza, poi è diventato un meccanismo talmente abituale da risultare connaturato, a tratti perverso: competere con gli dèi, sottomettere gli animali, dominare la natura, sconfiggere la morte. Questa è la hybris, il tragico errore di Icaro. Per Carlo Bordoni è alla hybris che va ricondotta la crisi del nostro tempo. Oggi i valori di democrazia, libertà, uguaglianza e progresso appaiono scarnificati, scoloriti e intermittenti, fragili origami privi di autorevolezza e sacrificati al dio dell’eccesso; oggi si profetizza un nuovo declino dell’Occidente. Perché il colmo della tracotanza consiste nell’ignorare deliberatamente il futuro, nel vivere in un eterno presente dominato dalla voracità del benessere e da un’inquietante forma di indifferenza. Ma, paradossalmente, è proprio grazie alla hybris che possiamo riscattare il presente e nutrire speranze per il futuro: avere la spinta a superare i limiti significa saper deviare dal percorso già tracciato, compiere uno scarto e magari trovare una nuova via. Significa riappropriarsi del potere di determinare il futuro, a dispetto di qualsiasi opprimente organismo sovranazionale o orwelliano dispositivo di controllo. Essere disobbedienti significa essere creativi. Essere Icaro significa volare alto, quasi fino al sole.
