Setanta anys després d’haver-se iniciat, la Guerra Civil segueix despertant interès arreu del món. Com s’ha destacat sovint, és el conflicte bèl·lic que, després de la Segona Guerra Mundial, més bibliografia ha generat al llarg de tota la història. I al mateix temps segueix generant controvèrsies polítiques i debats ciutadans més enllà de l’estricta discussió científica i historiogràfica. La raó de tot plegat és molt simple: queden encara moltes llacunes per omplir, moltes incògnites per resoldre d’aquella guerra. La societat, en el seu conjunt, no s’ha enfrontat cara a cara, obertament, amb tots els aspectes conflictius que resten pendents. Hi ha hagut, també, massa silencis i massa pors. Però és evident que no es podrà passar pàgina de la història de la Guerra Civil, no es podran considerar superades totes les seues conseqüències fins que d’una manera decisiva no siguem capaços d’enfrontar-nos, sense prejudicis ni reticències, amb el passat. Com s’ha dit tantes vegades, un poble que no coneix la seua història corre perill de repetir-la. Aquest és, justament, el repte de futur. I les aportacions d’aquest llibre són una contribució, des de la perspectiva de la història, per superar aquest passat.

Como se ha destacado a menudo, es el conflicto bélico que, después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, más bibliografía ha generado a lo largo de toda la historia. Y al mismo tiempo sigue generando controversias políticas y debates ciudadanos más allá de la estricta discusión científica e historiográfica.
