Informe final de un estudio cualitativo sobre la cuestion "mujer, crisis y resistencia" en la republica de chile (uno de los nueve paises de america latina que participan en el proyecto "entre mujeres" en el cual se enmarca este trabajo). El eje de dicho estudio de casos es la experiencia organizativa de las mujeres en el periodo de la dictadura chilena. Se pueden apreciar dos partes en el presente informe (al igual que en los de los otros ocho paises participantes en el proyecto): 1) la primera parte corresponde a la recopilacion y analisis de la informacion estadistica acerca de la situacion de la mujer en este pais; 2) la segunda es de caracter cualitativo y pretende reflejar la manera, en que las mujeres se han organizado en respuesta a la crisis, y los alcances de este proceso en el cambio de su condicion. Por otra parte, este informe advierte del contenido de una serie de entrevistas realizadas con diferentes sectores de mujeres organizadas y recoge las apreciaciones mas generales como resultado de un conjunto de entrevistas realizadas durante el periodo comprendido entre mayo y noviembre de 1989 en santiago de chile y provincias. Incluye anexos con el modelo de entrevista, datos sobre las entrevistadas y bibliografia.

La aparición de diversos movimientos de mujeres es un fenómeno generalizado, en América Latina, durante la década de los 80. Dichos movimientos presentan características heterogéneas, si bien muchos de ellos responden a estrategias de supervivencia debido a la situación de crisis que vive el continente. Este fenómeno ha sido abordado desde la antropología del género. Además, las variables étnica y de clase son otros dos elementos fundamentales para el estudio. La conjunción de todos estos elementos han motivado la toma de conciencia, por parte de algunas mujeres, de la situación de dependencia a la que han sido sometidas, apoyadas, en este proceso, por algunas ONGs de orientación feminista con actitudes reivindicativas de género, cuyos planteamientos son, por otra parte, fuertemente cuestionados por algunos sectores de mujeres integradas en los movimientos populares y en movimientos de reivindicación étnica. Este proceso se concretó en la formación del Comité de Mujeres Receptoras de Alimentos de El Alto, que ha denunciado la concepción de las políticas de cooperación y desarrollo, y sus mecanismos de aplicación, exigiendo que su voz sea tenida en cuenta en el diseño de dichas políticas.
