Violência é um tema que sempre retorna aos debates públicos e se torna ainda mais complexo com o desenvolvimento das sociedades. As suas várias faces – racismo, crime violento e feminicídio - asfixiam ainda mais os grupos subalternizados que não dispõem de recursos suficientes para romperem com situações que os violentam. Em Mulheres da Paz: violência, política de segurança e asfixia social em Salvador-BA, a cientista social Fabiana Rocha evidencia trajetórias de mulheres negras no curso de formação Mulheres da Paz (PRONASCI / MJ) objetivando a retirada dos jovens do mundo da criminalidade violenta. A abordagem evidencia as perspectivas desses grupos excluídos como dotados de posicionamento político e considera racismo, violência institucional e violência de gênero como constitutivas da ordem social. Os três capítulos estão estruturados em três pilares temáticos: política de segurança e a questão racial e de gênero; os saberes situados e processos para a execução do projeto federal na Bahia; e violência e asfixia social de mulheres negras urbanas de Salvador. A autora analisa a concepção de empoderamento adotada pelo Projeto Mulheres da Paz, bem como, a valorização da atuação dessas mulheres sob o viés voluntarista, problematizando os recursos que lhes foram apresentados. A narrativa é desenvolvida no contexto de conflitos desencadeados pelo tráfico de drogas sob um enquadramento social e político de administração pública progressista em conflito com posturas conservadoras na estrutura de gestão. Mulheres da Paz: Violência, política de segurança e asfixia social em Salvador-BA é produto de uma pesquisa acadêmica, através da qual Fabiana Rocha propõe mudanças na formatação das políticas que são direcionadas às mulheres negras e pobres, direcionando a leitura para especialistas, ativistas, gestão pública, movimentos sociais e a quem mais se interesse pela temática.
