O presente estudo é voltado para analisar documentos e fontes necessárias que reportam a violência de gênero sofrida por profissionais nas instituições militares da Segurança Pública do Estado do Ceará. Neste ensaio teórico, e ante o exposto, o foco é a mulher militar e sua relação com as dinâmicas de poder e gênero no ambiente de trabalho, sobretudo sob a ótica do assédio e da discriminação. Objetiva-se fomentar o tema sobre assédio sexual no âmbito da segurança pública, possuindo um caráter inédito ao observar que a inserção das mulheres nesse campo profissional encontra-se em construção. Desse modo, a metodologia tem estribo na Análise de Discurso Crítica (ADC) de Norman Fairclough. Nos apoiamos na ADC em razão de nos possibilitar analisar os aspectos que envolvem as relações de poder identificadas nos discursos e práticas sociais desse campo. Percebemos que a cultura hegemônica masculina e todas as nuances que a envolvem se dá não só na sociedade, mas nos aparelhos estatais (especificamente para o presente estudo, no campo militar) e seus movimentos também estão igualmente disputando esse sentido, que, longe de possuir uma natureza jurídica, é construído em meio às disputas entre os grupos (dominantes e dominadas).

A tradicional estrutura dicotômica da sociedade e a consequente divisão das atividades refletem-se na esfera da política institucional, majoritariamente masculina. Diante disso, considerando a sub-representatividade de gênero uma questão a ser superada por vários países, em especial o Brasil, onde as mulheres ainda não foram além de 16% da composição do Poder Legislativo, e com o propósito de se responder à seguinte pergunta: "de que modo o Estado brasileiro pode lançar mão de ações afirmativas, as quais pretendem estabelecer uma igualdade material, a fim de que seja alcançada a paridade de gênero na política institucional?", a presente pesquisa se desenvolve a partir da metodologia analítica e das técnicas de pesquisa de revisão de literatura e pesquisa documental. Efetivamente, defende-se que a arena institucional da política brasileira seja mais diversificada assim como o tecido social se apresenta, de modo que, com mais diversidade, as características peculiares da sociedade sejam refletidas nos debates públicos promovidos pela politização de novos temas. Nesse sentido, o trabalho considera a baixa efetividade das cotas de candidaturas de gênero adotadas pelo Brasil há mais de 25 anos e argumenta em prol de uma maior inserção feminina na esfera político-deliberativa por meio da combinação de mecanismos afirmativos, apresentando-se como caminhos potencialmente capazes de alterar tal quadro, com as devidas ressalvas, a adoção da lista fechada e a reserva de assentos.

In this richly detailed, sensitive ethnographic work, Sally Cole takes as her starting point the firsthand accounts of five differently situated Portuguese women, who describe their lives in a rural fishing community on the north coast of Portugal. Skillfully combining these life stories with cultural and economic analysis, Cole radically departs from the picture of women as sexual beings that prevails in the anthropological literature on Europe and the Mediterranean. Her very different strategy--a focus on women as workers--reflects the Portuguese women's own definition of themselves and allows them the strong, resonant voice that is the goal of both the new ethnography and feminist scholarship. From this new perspective, Cole proposes an important critique of the dominant paradigm of southern European gender relations as being embedded in the code of honor and shame. Covering the Salazar years, as well as the period since the 1974 Revolution, Cole shows that fisherwomen of the past enjoyed greater autonomy in work and social relations than do their daughters and granddaughters, who live in a context of increasing commoditization and industrialization. Central to this account is an examination of the changing structure and role of the household as economic production moved to the factory.
