Este livro é resultado da pesquisa de doutorado defendida na ECA/USP e laureada com o Prêmio Capes de melhor Tese em Artes do Brasil no ano de 2018. Nele são identificadas e analisadas ações performáticas de mulheres artistas e ativistas, tendo como pilares as vertentes das teorias críticas feministas e dos estudos de gênero. São trabalhos cênicos que implicam a utilização dos corpos e/ou de experiências autoetnográficas como estratégias composicionais para visibilizar as inúmeras pautas das mulheres, nas quais protagonizam posturas críticas, políticas e poéticas das artistas como reivindicação social. Neste livro, Marla Prado nos convida a refletir sobre como a desigualdade de gênero é reproduzida na configuração dos acervos e coleções de arte em museus. Um tema que é pauta de luta das mulheres há décadas na militância feminista, na produção artística e na crítica historiográfica, mas que apenas recentemente tem encontrado ressonância na produção cultural dos museus. A autora segue a linha gramsciana, e demonstra que nessas décadas de luta se produziu conhecimentos e estratégias de mudanças, como produções orgânicas para criar, junto à sociedade, a consciência correspondente aos interesses da classe que representam. Assim, questionando o cânone artístico e investigando a incorporação de códigos e valores da experiência das mulheres nas artes, com efeitos nas representações artísticas, são forçados os limites de ingresso nesse campo, considerando os museus como agências de legitimação. Na chave pós estruturalista, Marla Prado apresenta como as mulheres são sujeitos ativos na construção das estruturas sociais, e como elas forçam os limites da História da Arte e dos museus. Deste modo, suas lutas são incorporadas à produção das artistas, aos estudos críticos da arte e à Museologia Crítica, com demandas propositivas por igualdade e justiça social. O estudo de caso sobre o MASP é situado como parte das mudanças propostas na luta das mulheres, uma parcela da conquista buscada, e que para existir parte dos conhecimentos e estratégias orgânicas, experimentais nos museus, mas que rompem com o tradicional e de fato contribuem para uma mudança estrutural mais ampla.

As it evolves, the stand-off reveals itself to be a power struggle between love, dignity and honor, and the lesser god of brute force. A lesson in how power really works, and how it can be made to work differently.
