Os artistas publicados nesta edição são: Akintunde Akinleye, Alban Lécuyer, Amy Elkins, Andrea Grüntzner, Arnau Blanch Vilageliu, Beto Shwafaty, Boris Eldagsen, Camila Maissune de Sousa, Cássio Campos Vasconcellos, Chang Kyun Kim, Claude Rouyer, Cristina Nuñez, Cynthia Greig, Daesung Lee, Ellen Jacob, Gili Lavy, Hrvoje Slovenc, Hua Weicheng, Ivar Veermäe, Joanna Bonder, Katerina Mistal, Katherine Longly, Léo Delafontaine, Luisa Puterman, Marcela Magno, Michael Lundgren, Michel Le Belhomme, Nicola Lo Calzo, Paul Thulin, Ricardo Alves Jr., Ricardo Burgarelli, Ricardo Muñoz Izquierdo, Simon Menner, The Cool Couple e Ulf Lundin. The publication “World, Image, World – Notebooks of critical reflections on photography” is part of the research carried out for the production of the FIF BH 2015 and 2017. The book is divided into two notebooks: a textbook and a photobook. The articles were produced by thinkers and researchers from different areas of knowledge and life experience bringing a broad reflection on the image in the contemporary context. The photobook (…) and brings images of the works of 35 artists selected for the second edition of the festival. In 2015, the festival set out to raise questions and reflect on imagery production, its influences on the construction of different worldviews and how they impact human relations, through the concept: World, Image, World. WORLD, IMAGE, WORLD – Human beings create images and use them as a means to build, understand, and spread ideas. Images influence the way we grasp and produce realities, generating manifold understandings about the world’s possible conceptions. The process of understanding and building realities is constantly moving and changing. In the varied cultural contexts, these views co-exist, overlap, crisscross and challenge each other. These ongoing exchanges between the world, the image, and the world bring about an intense flow, affecting human relations. The image then becomes a tool of power, since it both organizes and destabilizes realities. To actualize processes of critical thinking on the production of images and their influence in the world – this is what we want with FIF 2015. The artists published in this edition are: Akintunde Akinleye, Alban Lécuyer, Amy Elkins, Andrea Grüntzner, Arnau Blanch Vilageliu, Beto Shwafaty, Boris Eldagsen, Camila Maissune de Sousa, Cássio Campos Vasconcellos, Chang Kyun Kim, Claude Rouyer, Cristina Nuñez, Cynthia Greig, Daesung Lee, Ellen Jacob, Gili Lavy, Hrvoje Slovenc, Hua Weicheng, Ivar Veermäe, Joanna Bonder, Katerina Mistal, Katherine Longly, Léo Delafontaine, Luisa Puterman, Marcela Magno, Michael Lundgren, Michel Le Belhomme, Nicola Lo Calzo, Paul Thulin, Ricardo Alves Jr., Ricardo Burgarelli, Ricardo Muñoz Izquierdo, Simon Menner, The Cool Couple e Ulf Lundin. The guest authors are: André Azevedo da Fonseca ///The image in political mythologies: sacred heroes and demonic villains in dispute over your heart Heloisa Murgel Starling /// I needn’t say anything. Merely show: images, politics and the writing of history Marie José Mondzain /// The zonard image or the clandestine freedom Antonio Bispo dos Santos /// The influence of images on the path of tradicional communities Philipp Jeandrée ///“Denaturalising the visual”:The essay film as political thinking in images Roland Bleiker /// The Politics of Images in International Relations

This international seminar’s fifth edition, dedicated to the theme Desenho (...) Cidade (...) Corpo, Habitando a Terra (Drawing [...] City [...] Body, Inhabiting the Earth) was held as a joint activity between: this C.I.A.U.D./F.A./U.Lisboa Research Project, the University of São Paulo, represented by the Maria Antônia University Centre, and the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. Its objectives were threefold: To discuss how Drawing in/of the City and the elements that identify it (geographical area, inhabitants, natural landscape and/or built landscape; present, desired or memorable facts and data) are represented and identified through the presence and/or action of the body, in the form of gestures, movements, interventions, displacements or permanence. To problematise the association between Drawing and City from the starting point of the perception of the Body, assuming this mediation as a condition for the particular construction of that relationship. To identify the presence of the Body in the Representations/Drawings of the City, submitting this event or phenomenon to analysis, aiming for cognitive production. The contributions will be of interest to artists, academics and professionals in the fields of drawing and the arts, architecture, sociology, philosophy, urbanism and design.

Reading Lezama S Paradiso written by William Rowlandson and has been published by Peter Lang this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Literary Collections categories.

This book focuses on the novel Paradiso of Cuban author José Lezama Lima (1910-1976), and in particular on the protagonist José Cemí. It examines the development of Cemí according to the three distinct phases detailed by Lezama: the 'placentario' world of family protection, the awakening to the exterior world and the subsequent friendships made, and the eventual encounters with Oppiano Licario. Cemí's progression, and his growing ability to interpret and create texts, is analysed as analogous to the reader's progression through the novel. In this respect, both the reader and Cemí are obliged to interpret the complex symbolism according to interpretative skills acquired from the text itself. In a similar fashion, the connection between Cemí's 'guide' Licario, and the author Lezama is investigated. By exploring these connections between reader and protagonist, author and character, the author of this work suggests a radical and hitherto unexplored approach to the text of Lezama.

Improvised Continent written by Richard Cándida Smith and has been published by University of Pennsylvania Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-08-25 with History categories.

How does a country in the process of becoming a world power prepare its citizens for the responsibilities of global leadership? In Improvised Continent, Richard Cándida Smith answers this question by illuminating the forgotten story of how, over the course of the twentieth century, cultural exchange programs, some run by the government and others by philanthropies and major cultural institutions, brought many of the most important artists and writers of Latin America to live and work in the United States. Improvised Continent is the first book to focus on cultural exchange inside the United States and how Americans responded to Latin American writers and artists. Moving masterfully between the history of ideas, biography, institutional history and politics, and international relations, and engaging works in French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese, Cándida Smith synthesizes over seventy years of Pan-American cultural activity in the United States. The stories behind Diego Rivera's murals, the movies of Alejandro G. Iñárritu, the poetry of Gabriela Mistral, the photography of Genevieve Naylor, and the novels of Carlos Fuentes—these works and artists, along with many others, challenged U.S. citizens about their place in the world and about the kind of global relations the country's interests could allow. Improvised Continent provides a profoundly compassionate portrayal of the Latin American artists and writers who believed their practices might create a more humane world.
