Dem stark wachsenden Anteil der älteren Bevölkerung entsprechend nimmt auch das Interesse an musikalischen Aktivitäten im Alter zu. Musikalische Kompetenzen, Interessen und Lernfähigkeiten im Alter sind bislang jedoch kaum erforscht. Thema Die Arbeit befasst sich mit der Wirkung der Musik und deren Bedeutung im Leben älterer Menschen. Ebenfalls werden die Musikgewohnheiten dieser Menschen erforscht und ein weiteres Ziel ist die Klärung der Frage, ob ein Ungleichgewicht zwischen Angebot und Nachfrage von Musikveranstaltungen besteht. Die Arbeit stützt sich auf literarische Quellen und auf selbst durchgeführte Interviews mit 20 Personen im Alter von 65 bis 90 Jahren. Hypothesen - Die Bedeutung der Musik nimmt nach der Pension zu. So nimmt auch die Beschäftigung mit der Musik zu, da nun mehr Zeit dafür zur Verfügung steht. - Die Musik verfügt über wichtige Wirkungen auf ältere Personen. Als therapeutische Massnahme vermag sie entscheidend zu Heilungsprozessen beizutragen. Zudem hält das aktive Musizieren geistig fit. - In der Schweiz ist die Nachfrage an musikalischen Angeboten abgestimmt für ältere Leute grösser als das Angebot. - Ältere Menschen bevorzugen auch heute die gleichen Musikrichtungen und Konsummit-tel für die Musik wie in ihrer Jugendzeit. Schlussfolgerung Die grosse Bedeutung der Musik nach der Pension ändert sich nicht. Man beschäftigt sich jedoch tatsächlich mehr mit Musik, da mehr Zeit zur Verfügung steht. Sie heitert die Menschen auf, motiviert und hat eine entspannende und beruhigende Wirkung. Mit musiktherapeutischen Massnahmen kann das Befinden eines Menschen wesentlich verbessert werden. Zudem fördert die Musik die Gemeinschaft. Die Schweizer Senioren sind grösstenteils zufrieden mit dem bestehenden Musikangebot. Bevorzugt werden die gleichen Konsummittel für die Musik und die Musikrichtungen wie in Jugendzeiten. Klassik und Volksmusik.
