Buku ini mencoba memaparkan perjuangan pemusik Tingkilan tradisional di tengah maraknya modernisasi musik yang kian memanas. Keduanya bersisian namun sebenarnya terjadi pertarungan secara simbolik, yang pada pelaksanaannya dikenal sebagai kekerasan simbolik.
