Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Theologie - Sonstiges, Note: 1,7, Evangelische Hochschule Berlin, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: [...] Diese Arbeit will keinen neuen, eigenständigen Beitrag zu dieser Diskussion leisten, sondern einen Einstieg in die Thematik bieten. Dies kann nur gelingen, indem an einigen Stellen Linien angerissen werden, die dann aber nicht weiter verfolgt werden können. Das Anliegen dieser Arbeit ist, nach Erlösung in der Rock- und Popmusik zu fragen. Dazu ist es nötig, auch musikalisch geäußerte Religion im Allgemeinen zu thematisieren. Am Anfang der Arbeit stehen daher theoretische Vorüberlegungen, die den Blick für die in Teil III vorgenommenen Betrachtungen einzelner Lieder aus der Rock- und Popkultur schärfen wollen. Zunächst müssen Grundlagen wie der Religionsbegriff und das Erlösungsthema geklärt werden, bevor sich in Teil II dem Zusammenhang zwischen Musik und Religion, Rockmusik und Erlösung genähert werden kann. In Teil III werden dann exemplarisch zwei unterschiedliche Songs analysiert und auf die Erlösungsthematik hin befragt. Am Ende der Arbeit werde ich aus dem Erarbeiteten Schlüsse für die religions- und gemeindepädagogische Praxis ziehen. Ich habe mich in dieser Arbeit um eine gleichberechtigte Sprache bemüht. Um die Lesbarkeit zu vereinfachen habe ich jedoch die männliche Form eines Wortes benutzt und weise durch gelegentliche Setzung femininer Formen darauf hin, dass die Leserinnen immer mit gemeint sind.

Religion verliert für Jugendliche an Verbindlichkeit und Selbstverständlichkeit. Jugendliche zweifeln an der Religion, da ihnen der praktische Bezug fehlt. Religion wird verstärkt in Hinblick auf ihre Funktion für den Einzelnen betrachtet. Deshalb tauchen Fragen auf, wie z.B. „Was bringt Religion? Was nützt es mir?“ Durch die Pluralisierung der Welt, die hohe Individualisierung, die unzähligen freien Wahlmöglichkeiten und Entscheidungsfreiheiten und das unüberschaubare Angebot, werden andere Werte und Normen für Jugendliche wichtig. Es geht um Bedürfnisbefriedigung, nicht um Pflichten. Befragt man Jugendliche, was ihnen „heilig“ ist, kann man Antworten wie „mein Handy, mein Zimmer, meine Privatsphäre oder Freiheiten“ erwarten. Der Begriff „heilig“ wird somit nur im Zusammenhang mit Privatem gesehen. Aber auch die Veränderung der Kindheit, die Auflösung der Familienstrukturen und das Überwiegen der Klein- und Kleinstfamilien spielen eine bedeutende Rolle. Kinder werden durch ihre Eltern und/oder die Großeltern geprägt. Ihre ersten Erfahrungen religiöser Art machen die Kinder in der Regel durch Geschichten und Erzählungen. Auch die Bibel ist ein Geschichtenbuch. Da aber die Tradition des Geschichtenerzählens in unserer mediengeprägten Welt verloren geht, kommt es zu einem Ausfall religiöser Kommunikation. Wie kann man nun Jugendliche mit Religion erreichen? Treml (1997) führt aus, dass es Wege hierfür gibt. Man dürfe nur nicht glauben, „dass diese Wege einfacher sind als die katechetisch orientierten Vermittlungen von gestern. Die Individualisierung und Privatisierung von Religion erfordert ein Umdenken im religionspädagogischen Feld. Religiöse Erziehung kann nicht mehr nur Vermittlung tradierter Glaubensinhalte sein. Diese werden kaum noch verstanden“. Über Fragen und Antworten kann man sich den Jugendlichen heutzutage nicht mehr nähern. Vielmehr geht es um den Ausgangspunkt der individuellen Biographie des Einzelnen auch im religiösen Bereich, sind doch die „Subjekte nicht (nur) Empfänger theologischer Lehre, sondern selbständige und kreative Produzenten religiösen Denkens“(Luther, 1992) Die Populäre Kultur stellt eine Lebenswelt für Jugendliche dar, in der sie sich wieder finden. Tatsächlich spiegeln sich in den Medien religiöse Inhalte und existentielle Fragen, sei es in der Werbung, in Kinofilmen oder in der Musik.
